Hello people. Im driving a calibra turbo at the mo but can't wait to get my hands on a black UK manual Z. They certainly are the most georgous cars i could afford to own.

Afraid not my ones silver and in the garage at the mo with a pourus cylinder head. GM s##te. Your car isn't the average Z though is it LOL. Cant wait to get one even more now. These UK manual cars are so hard to find.

I know I wanted A UK,and a manuel could not find the one I was looking for after 5 months,so I settled for a UK auto!!!

Whats it like driving an auto 300zx. I've just never thought about driving an automatic before, doesn't really appeal to me. Has to be a UK car really for insurance purposes (at 24 i usually get laughter when i phone for a quote)

Well Just like you an auto did not appeal to me,I much preffered a manual,IMHO! there is nothing worse than driving an underpowered auto,But the 300zx is not underpowered even when it is stock, there are loads of guys on here that have an auto, and most of them are happy with it.Some of them have driven my car and got a shock!Go for a test drive and make up your own mind.

Depends on your driving style and personal preference, I've had an auto TT for 3yrs and its suited me driving round london fine.

When are you getting it? Sidcup aint too far from me I might see you about.

Cheers Mac1, could be persuaded, don't think i could wait 5 months. I haven't been in a manual or auto yet. Where abouts are you Trev? I'll probably be driving into london quite alot so maybe an auto is the way to go.

I'm in woolwich, I used to have to commute through the blackwall tunnel during rush hour, I was glad for an auto then!! biggrin.gif

Trev, Hope to see you around. Hopefully it should not be too long before im a proud owner.

Teejay - FYI I'm 23 and have an import..

If you can stomach the £1750 insurance cost (4yrs NCB, clean license) it's not a prob.. (Thats with Bell Direct BTW)

But yes - I did get laughed at, a lot!

So we've now got Teejay, Vijay and Ajay....

Welcome to the forum Teejay.

Sometimes at night the lights start flickering...spookey!!! biggrin.gif

Macca! All you've achieved mate is nothing more than someone going into McD's and ordering a Bic Mac Meal then paying an extra 99p to Max it up! LMFAO biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

TJ, depends what roads you're driving on.

Auto is fantastic for motorway driving; especially in rush hour, but it's scared the hell outa me a couple of times on country roads round north Wales. When I first got it I kept setting it up for corners like in a manual except the gear didn't always drop, then it dropped half way round the beed when I put the power down. Worst time I ended up sideways with the tail dusting trees on the other side of the road and a lorry oncoming. Bugger.

Still, treat it with respect and learn how the auto box behaves and you'll be fine (recommend playin in car parks on sunday mornings). Auto + cruise control makes motorways piss easy. Eight hour drive from Calais to Dordogne non-stop (except for about 6 fuel stops!!!) and was fine at the other end. No way I'd have done that in the fiancee's Pug.

Anyway, welcome to Z driving - have fun!

I'm 20 and have a quote for £2000 via firebond who are using sabre insurance to underwrite, thats for a UK, I havnt looked into Import insurance yet although I wll probably import a car direct from Japan, I have 1 fault accident and a clean license with no NCB until august ;o)

Your best bet is to phone up and speak to a middle level underwriter they are generally mature enough not to laugh at you to your face,

I can't understand why your insurance is so expensive though, when I'm 21 fully comp on a TT supra will be £1200, (via www.elephant.co.uk)

Automatic doesnt appeal to me either or I would have had a Z sitting next to my MG right now,

I can understand why there are so many damn autos in America but why on earth did Nissan supply so many autos in the UK?
