What's the penalty for having too small a number plate?

Am I right in thinking that if prosecuted, you get a fine but no points?

Cheers

I got 2 points for a cut down Number plate on a motor bike

Mind you that was in 1983 £5 fine at 50p a week

Think it's £30 fine and no points IIRC - not had one myself though :D

Not had any problems with mine. The amount of Police cars that have driven by me when I've been on the road and not one has batted an eye lid.

It depends where you are. If you're pulled by North Wales Police, expect to be rammed for the full amount.

It's a £30 statutory fine with no points but in most areas they'll give you a warning.

£30 fine and no points if you have a legal one in your boot you can get off with a warning as long as you change it there and then and the coppers decide not to be cnuts about it.

Oh looks like I was wrong then Sorry :nelson:

I did get done for cut down L plates at the same time the points must have

been for that memories going, still it was years ago on my powerful Fizzy :D

Careful if it a private plate though, you get £30 fine first time, another one second time and a nasty letter from dvla, 3rd time you can have your plate taken by dvla.

But all number plate offences are non endorsable, so you can drive around with no reg plates and just get a small fine.

The law is an ass.

Looks like my small front plates going on then !!!

I can get rid of the airbrake on the front :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Thanks guys! Much appreciated! :D

Just be wary, although it is 30 quid and non endorsable, they can make a case for driving a car without a registration mark, and get you all sorts of grief through that, with the possibility of your pride and joy ending up on a Q plate.

a new law came into day,and you will be executed :D

that's not very funny is it? they've already put 6 skylark owners and 2 gto owners in front of the firing squad over here. Terrible, absolutely terrible. But it goes under a "style exemption" . supra owners undergo horrific torture first..... :)
