nothing wrong with being a piss head and partying your self to death

but...someone else could have had a chance to live longer with that liver that was wasted, (how must the doners family feel right now) for that he was a complete w4nker.

If only everyone that was so caring in the world actually carried a doner card or have specified on their driving licence that they wish to make their body parts available their wouldnt be such a problem ;)

What I wanna know is what on earth he's got left to donate! ;)

By the sounds of it, he was akin to a rabid old A reg brown ford fiesta 950 popular.

I really do love watching the old war documentaries. Watched another on 'The Somme' as well not so long ago. Another interesting program on Auschwitz. Working my way through 'The World at War' series from the mid 80's again.

Only real reason I watch TV is for interesting and historical documentaries.

Yeah there was a series of Aushwitz documenteries (sp?) on discovery in the summer, very informative and very good!

Need to get fancy TV....still have misserable terrestrial only. Saying that, BBC Docs are by and large very good.

FPMSL

Quick reply

Obviously not G Best donating....

Bit like offering 2nd hand bog roll

But seriously...

If we all carried doner cards etc then it would remove this hatred for spare organs...

Everyone needs to think of others for a change

(you never know when you may need a part) ;)

Well I've not voted in the poll because I don't think this is so cut and dried.

I *don't* think he's a "legend", but then again, that's just because I don't think football is that important. Winston Churchill is a legend. Martin Luther King is a legend. Nelson Mandela is a legend. George Best? I'm sorry, who? I don't think so. Please cut the sentimental nonsense.

However, do I think he "deserved" to die? Any more than anyone else "deserves" to die? Again, I don't think so. If it was that easy to give up alcohol then he would have just given it up. Some people find it impossible to walk away regardless of the cost. Addiction defies rationality, and it's a crying shame that it ruins so many lives. No, I don't think he "deserved" to die. I've known such people, and it's a terrible thing. What it is, is a shame, no matter who it happens to.

That's my two cents anyway.

Bart

alcholism is a disease some cannot just walk away from it,bestie made his own dissions in life he chose his road to walk down,no one can decide does someone deserve to die,he will one day confront his demons,i think yes he should be remembered for being the greatest footballer of his generation ranked alongside pele, cruyff, and marradona, count no man lucky untill he reaches his journey end, respect.

im a big sports fan,,and have been listening on the radio about people like us who met him......believe it or not he was a quiet and shy guy and the reason it seems he turned to alcohol was because he never forgave himself for his mothers death.........she couldnt handle the pressure of him being famous and turned to drink herself........which in the end killed her........

The fact that Best was given a liver transplant makes me sick when there are lots of people out there that would have looked after theirs if they had been given the chance of a transplant.

After seeing footage today he was obviously a legend but didn't deserve the liver. They should have let him die with his own abused liver rather than waste another one that could have saved someone else. I've got no sympathy for people who die due to smoking and drinking, waste of resources that should be going to someone who deserves them.

do people not listen, the doner came up and only matched him, thats how it works its not just whos at the top gets the next one its complicated so if he had not had it it would have been binned so hardly wasted and as i keep saying he dies of an injection not from drinking

I voted YES. I dont think he deserved to die as such, its a shame that anyone goes down that path money, fame and fortune or not.

But he had many more oppertunities to sort himself out than most in his situation. Still a shame he didnt have the strength to fight it.

Well Said.. couldnt say it any better myself.

Note to alex300, cadpaul, ChrisP, Homebrew, jaz, RichardSmith, Shep, TonyC, tzee, and white-zed : Do you not think he suandered his second chance? Do you not think someone else deserved this liver? Someone who wasn't an alcholic?

hes a legend nuff said, kirbz summed it up,he was good at what he done and should be remebered for that he was a coont and didnt deserve the liver FFS

Granted I know very little about the bloke but any talent has had on the pitch does not excuse him for being human scum IMHO. If someone had given me a second chance like that then i for one would have respected it!

he was a legend..

been an alcoholic must be a bit like been a smoker, you stop smoking and your sure its for ever, but in a few months your back on them, its very difficult and everyone is different some can do it some can't.

the bloke had an amazing life.

I bet everyone on this forum (including the women) wish they had nailed just one of the birds he had!!!!!

Addiction takes many forms and Alcoholism is just one of them.

Not interested in the women he nailed, I would definately had him though in his prime (give me a time machine :D and I'll go back to the late sixties)

oh yessss :hyper:

Oh yeah he was an amazing footballer... (I like football)

I know we all have a common interest in the Z's but i've got to say that i'm shocked - no SHOCKED by the comments, George Best is and always will be a LEGEND, the BEST footballer ever and PELE said so..............

I hope that none of you ever are unfortunate enough to suffer from any addiction and battle to get over it........ cause thats what happened to him....

bunch of ignorants I say..........
