Bloody ell, I guess that would be called a work in progress then.

Prehaps someone could psp it to see what it would look like finished...

Obviously with a rear spoiler and larger wheels....

I know it'll probably still look a bit iffy but it would be worth a crack

Thats fooking UGLY !! :hurl: :hurl: :hurl:

In a chav stylleeeeee :slap:

surely its just in the process of having bodywork done to it ? Possibly parked outside bodyshop (you certaintly could'nt drive it like that)

yes it was parked outside a bodyshop who promptly got flamed on half a dozen forums for leaving it in that state :slap:

samurai performance at there very best

OUCH! PMSL.

Now thats gonna need some wide wheels to fill those arches?

Now that, as the saying goes, is a shame. Still, maybe it *is* a work in progress. Maybe it'll look OK when it's all done... or maybe I'm dreaming. I dunno.

The arches do look like balsa wood, maybe they are building a rear arch mould ready to fibreglass? The colour scheme though reminds of the VW Polo that was once available, just needs a yellow and a green panel somewhere!

Wants shot!

i have a gut feeling that this car will look awesome when its finished.. who ever is spending on this car is splashing out a lot of money so it cant be a chav. the rear arches look like theyre getting a wide arch custom done on it and i guess it will have grills in as well. watch everyone this will look fab..

You're probably looking at extruded polystyrene blocks which they're shaping ready to take a mould to lay up into. As they're going wide arch they'll obviously need bigger alloys so I can't quite understand why they're shaping it with the standard alloys still on? It's normal practice to sculpt around the wheels you'll be putting on (or a mock up that's the same size) and there's a strong chance that when the alloys and tyres go on they might foul the arches they've spent weeks crafting. And on a side note, that front arch/skirt thing is a dead ringer for the one on the Calibre Coachworks showcar that "mysteriously" went up in smoke a while back.

Leigh.

This is one we done earlier and has gone through the same process.

However, now that I’ve said that you’re all going to be thinking that this month’s cover is an odd choice. Well, despite loving the power stuff we’re also still keen to focus on originality, and Jo Slade’s hybrid 406 couldn’t get much more original. As I say in the feature, it’s not often we see the so called executive saloons modified to such a high standard.

Thanks guys for all the interest I guess an explanation is in order. The 300ZX in the picture is my own car which is under going some changes as you can see. Unfortunately due to our work load with our customer’s cars we don’t get as much time to work on it as we would like but we hope to have it finished for next year. The arches and side skirts have been designed and made around a set of 19” wheels and the rear end fitted with a wide arch bumper from the Z Centre. The Interior is having a bit of a make over too. The engine has also been sorted with large turbos, gas flowed and ported heads, forged pistons etc.

As SkylineDave has pointed out we do get slatted from time to time and as the old saying goes you cant please all of the people all of the time and there is always two sides to a story but I guess its all to easy to hide behind a computer these days.

Some people on here will slate you, simply because they don't like body kits, personally it doesn't bother me either way, as long as the end result looks good.

Nice of you to come on here and explain what is going on, and I for one would be interested in the finished article, would be nice to see it at some shows nxt year.

Its good to get the feedback from the bodyshop as well. :)

Good luck with your project, certainly going to look different.

Good luck with it mate - not exactly my cup of tea but credit to you for having a go at something a bit different :D

Thanks guys...

if it looks anything like the pug then im sure it will look awesome, i love something a bit different, and really look forward to the finished product!

just dont forget to keep us updated and get some pics up as your progressing!

  • 2 years later...

this is my step fathers 300zx ( i hate it tho) it is like that as he was apparentely getting customers cars done first so never got done. although i have pictures of the rebuilt engine (somewhere) that went into that thing. was told engine was down to every last nut and bolt and was gonna run 900bhp and only used for santa pods 1/4 mile. when i did get on with him we took the engien down to max power 2005 as a display. pain in the arse to get in the van but it got to the NEC. wanted to change paint although not sure to what colour. now that i know how much of a b/s*&ter he can be i am very doubtfull. allthough that has been what hehas been working on for last 5 years. engine first body last he said
