Which are the cheapest but best H.I.D Light kits??

I am trying to sell the Z, but I am also using it as my daily driver for work and driving home in it is a fookin nightmare, as one of the roads I take has no street lighting, and if its not the fact that my lights are poor, even though I have upgraded the bulb to 100watt, my fookin heater seems to take forever to warm up and clear the front screen (common thing on Zs, colder inside than out, mists on the outside) Anyway I thought if I started by buying a cheapish H.I.D kit, it might help with visibility. As for the heater as anybody been able to adjust anything so it heats up quicker?? In the mornings I use the remote start 10 mins before I use the car (Heater set to 40 degrees on high blow). I know that cheap is a rare word on these cars but advice apprieciated.

I don't think that heater sounds right. Mine doesn't take that long to warm up.

What could be up with the heater??

no idea whats wrong with it but mine takes even longer than that to put out warm air and never gets to full heat

You may have an air lock, get the front end high up and run the engine with rad cap removed and top up as required.

your heater problem could be caused by a faulty/missing thermostat or as Mark said you have an airlock.

best and cheapest HID kits are Audi/BMW/Mercedes "retrofits"..they can be bought from breakers or ebay. You'll need a set of ballasts and a set of Philips D2S bulbs

I have converted a few headlights like this and the result is VERY good, but it's far from plug and play and you will need to completely remove and dissassemble (and clean) both headlights.

After dissassembly you need to remove the original socket from the projector part of the headlight and glue the new D2S bulbs into place using strong epoxy glue.

(Since these bulbs have a very long life expectancy you don't realy need to worry about removal for a long time.)

Where will I find the Thermostat, and is it easy to replace??

Hi mate go to twimturbo.net,aus 300site/300 org you will find easy to follow steps on how to replace thermostat.

Iv,e fitted a set out of a Merc on mine , had to remove both lights and modify the bulb mountng , it gave me chance to repair the adjusters and paint the bezels ,Iv,e put the ballast boxes in tuperware tubs under the lights to keep em dry, took a day to do but was well worth it, iv,e now got another set out of peugeot 607 which i,m gonna do the high beam with , should have the best Zed headlights in the world !! :hyper: :hyper:

The ones sold by Mark at Outlander are excellent - I believe these are the same ones Danny sells now.

Got mine in the group buy last Xmas for £199 - simple plug & play in 15 minutes and the results are oustanding

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

My last Z heater was up to temp in no time.

This new one takes a while.

Keep the heater off while the car is running before you set off.

Running the car with heater on is cooling the water - taking longer to get up to full temp.

The matrix acts like a wee radiator
