I have been looking on Auto trader and spotted this very nice 98R plate manual twin turbo. My questions are:

Does 10K seem like a fair price? It was a bit more than I wanted to pay but it's about 5 years newer than any other TT manual car I've seen.

Has anyone else on the forum seen this car by any chance?

Any other thoughts on the car?

Oh and how do I edit posts!

Thanks

i know they've had it for sale for a couple of weeks. you dont see many TT 300s on this year! as to how much its worth im not too sure.......what i do know is that im selling my 1990 h reg TT 300zx for less than half that price! ;) :D

Im pretty sure thats been for sale for a long time now. I could go and have a quick look for you sometime if you want.

fair point!

If it has been on sale for some time the garage might do a good deal or it could mean that it's shite and not worth looking at.

If your ever passing. Don't put yourself out though. I need to work out whether I can afford to spend £10K on a Z first :)

No probs. I guess its been there for a while as people will see the price and just skip past it. Not realising its a 98

Agree, this car has been up for sale for some time, and it's defo the same dealer, or at least the same photo's.

It states that the mileage is verified  how? It's a Jap import.

But other than that, it looks very nice, and the price, from a dealer, isn't too bad. And it's got Full Service History, but again, how can they guarantee that it's genuine, as, if it has Jap history, it'll be in Japanese!! And if it's only got UK history, then it probably wont be full, unless it was imported from new! Which, as it's a '98, it could be, and then that would qualify the mileage quote :D

One major thing to think about.

Although I would love a new ish 300ZX, some of the parts would be a pain to find.

The cams, heads and fuel rail is different and the HICAS went electrical, as well as a 32bit ECU no 16bit, so chipping it virtually out of the question.

But if I had one that new and that low mileage, I would not mod it.

TBH I'm really not bothered about modding, at least not a TT ZX. 280 bhp is enough for me. If I did I would just limit it to exhaust and induction.

Hard to find parts doesn't sound good though.

It might be worth a phone call just to see about verified millage and service histroy.

Dicksons had 2 newer TT's for sale for ages, maybee even a year, one was red and one was white from what I remember as I havent bought an autotrader for ages and ages.

Cheers John Crisp

That is indeed a nice ZX.

I would happily spend £10k on a very late twin turbo. I wouldn't pay it for that car though as I would still want to see electric leather seats etc. But I guess they stopped some of the extras in Japan later on - leather on imports is rare anyway :(

Now if I could find a genuine 99-spec TT fully loaded.......

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Wow that is a long time. Either Zs aren't fast sellers or they have them up for too much.

The heated leather thing doesn't bother me at all. IMO heated electric seats have no place in a proper sports car. All they do is add unecessary weight. But each to their own :)

crazy to think tweed was in fashion during the early 90s apparently LMAO still in the fookers in 1998 WTF

as for electric heated seats they will weigh the same as the ones ilustrated ;) apart from the heater module

I wonder why they are so rare? There has to be some imported!

Even in 1996 the rot had set in... Sales were falling dramatically TOTAL Fairlady sales for 1996 were only 1220. Ie na/turbo together.

The situation got worse... In DECEMBER 1997 the total for the month was only 40 cars.

I dont know any figures for 98 or 99 but they were almost certainly worse than 1996.

That makes the car under discussion pretty rare indeed in Britain.

What a pity it isnt a version R or version S. But obviously its a lower spec one with tweed (not even velour) :smash:

The pity too is its another lard ar$e 2+2 instead of a SWB :wack:

But probably worth a look at that price.

Have a look Scott??? Post up a report eh??? :)
