Got a lad that thinks he's the been nees, thinks he'll run a 14.5 in his Type-R.

 

Anyone know ANYTHING about these cars, are they really that quick?

Every Civic Type R i have seen at the pod usually does a 14.1 - 14-8, so its a possability!! But he'd have to get a corkin launch.

A type-r can really get a 14.1!! Wow, I am surprised. Whent he Zed was standard, spanking them was dead easy but a standard Zed according to that time would only just beat it on the 1/4?!?

 

What about a REV3 MR2 tub, with filter and full stainless.....14.0??

they are quick, i tried racing one in my 205 gti and got beatdown :) i had no false beliefs that i might win in the first place though hehe

 

anyone know the standard zx tt 1/4 mile time?

You will beat him hands down,I was just on about one of these to Steve E last night I know I am running more power than you ATM Mark,but this mupped tried to show me how fast his typeR was and as usual I thought he had pulled in and stopped :wack:

Thats the Civic, its quicker than the Accord I believe ?

 

although the Civic type-r 0-60 is a good second slower 0-60 than a stock zed, so dont see how it can match a stock zed for 1/4 mile ?

Like Legrath said, if a Type-r was almost with me when I crossed the line in my zed (That being a standard zed I mean) I would be wholey embarrassed!!!

 

I mean first of all we have the RWD, they have crappy front, then we have loads more grunt, especially in mid-range...!!!!!

i dont even bother with these any more when they try it on, but i have a civic type r at the moment (a friends) and it is fun to drive around the streets, i would call them nippy.

Should have come to the pod on 25th :slap: there were loads of mr2s running (must have been a club meet)

 

I didnt see any run but my mate said most were hitting 13s so I still wouldnt worry about it! :D

Well, judging by this lot, 14's are easily achievable for the type-R's.

 

Goes to show the difference even half a second makes as spanking them is SO SO SO easy.....

I used to destroy Accord type-R's in my s14a - never ran into one in the Z - and my ol' Z used to make the s14a feel like a micra!

 

Modding yer sure they're gonna give a stock Z a run for their money.. but stock v stock - bb Hounda!

Also found out they like silkyolene oil (I'm not arsed either way) thats about it. Had a quick look a boost topics and the usual exhaust and air filter mods, and that was that!

I quite like them TBH I would love one instead of my daily driver 1.1 fiesta :x:

a friend of mine has got an accord type R with a few goodies on it and that absolutely flies!! ive been in it and it'll give a few scoobies a run for thier money!!

it'll stay with the Z til about 30mph - when mine starts to find traction!! - then the Z's gone!!

Just for the record I would think that a Rev 3 MR2 Tubby would be quite quick for the 1/4 mile extravaganza. Standard 245 bhp so with a filter and zorst say 250-260 and with the engine in the middle etc. ;)

Have to laugh at some of the threads there.

 

OK so a modded typeR could be very quick but a stock typeR of any kind will NOT outgun a 350Z or Jag XKR in a straight line - won't even be close. In the corners I reckon a 350z will trash the Hondas too....

no thats true. The timing only starts once you cross the line.

tbh on a 1/4mile yeh there quick get alongside one on a dual carriageway and its ta ta

 

z midrange is what there all about 3rd gear :wack:

i was chatting to my cousin and his mate (who had just bought a civic type r) and he wqas bragging about how quick it was and how the engine felt like it had a turbo because of the power increase.

 

now what my cousins mate didnt know was the type of car that i drive

 

he continued on with the bullshite, spouting on about what he had raced and beat, then he said "i wouldnt mind having a go at that 300 out there, i would piss all over that too"

 

i kept my mouth shut and when we were finished in the gym, we walked out and i flicked my alarm off , he went bright red, but still offered me a race (on my private runway obviousely)

 

so off we went he kept up with me till about 15MPH then i left him standing

 

he aint spoke to me since lol, just a quick story to keep you's all amused
