As a new member i must say it looks pretty good. I noticed that there was a bit on speaker upgrades as im in the middle of doing this at the moment what are the biggest you can get in front doors i was hoping to fit 6x9 or 8 inch 3 ways any suggestions appreciated.By the way clarion do an aftermarket 16.5 cm that drops straight in the original bose boxes in the back and they do a great job for rear fill ive just fitted them in mine

JRTT (what *is* your name.. Jerrt? wink.gif) - 6.5" fit straight into the doors..

I really doubt you'd get 8" in there, they'd just be too deep - it's a fairly tight fit with the 6.5" on depth..

It might be possible - you'd have to cut the door panel and make up a custom bracket though (the speaker fits into a big L shaped bracket, that then bolts to the door)..

Hello JR,

take a look further down the posts, I think someone asked this on here last week. Can't remember what size off the top of my head.

Aaron!!

you could have waited after I wrote that reply LMAO. biggrin.gif

Cheers for that aaron wasn`t sure if i`d find the same black boxes that sit in the back. It`s Jamie by the way!

No problem - no black boxes, but big silver plates, almost the height of the door, and about half that in length (on the longest section)..

George - hah! Lol smile.gif

And Jeff - to keep it barely on topic - Kinda like a FAQ for the UK boys - I like it..

Ok guys can we try and stay on subject, need to know if this is worth doing or not.

Cheers biggrin.gif

Jeff - do you want me to spell HICAS for you? There ya go then wink.gif

CheerZ,

Andy

Looks pretty good, very handy to have but how come i cant bring up a fix when i click on a topic?.

JRTT- The 300 doors can quite easily take 6x9's if u cut it right. Iv'e fitted them to z's four times now and have them in my own.

I'll take a pic of my door and show u if u like. U'll need 2 take the door panel off 2 do this. Unbolt the Bose speaker housing completly so it leaves enuff space for the bigger speaker. Now get the 6x9 speaker grill and take the mesh bit off the plastic housing. This should be the oval ring. Place this over the existing speaker grill on the doorcard, adjust as u see fit and draw round the inside of the ring. Now cut the shape out and the speaker should slot straight in. Fit the speaker housing and mesh back toghether once screwed in. U'll need to put some metal clips behind the door card when screwing in the 6x9 as the doorcard isn't strong enuff to hold them. U should get these with the 6x9's if brand new. I recommend the Infinity as the mid and tweeter sit at a slant facing upwards towards u. Anyways once done, bolt the door panel back up and enjoy..............U must also make sure u get the pos and neg right on each speaker as otherwise it wont sound right.

Hope this helps........

K4$H The links do not work yet,I am testing the idea before I put some serious work in also only on host site awaiting dedicated web space and domain.

Andy thank you (HICAS spelling) it was getting somewhat late when I was writing up the page and the spell check did pick it up but did not know what to replace it with(Huh?) gave up before brain went in to meltdown.

Also...without wishing to sound picky...."Swap" is spelt with an "a" in English and also the Upper Dash could peal, but I wouldn't like to hear the noise it made...did you mean "peel"? biggrin.gif wink.gif

Ajay well noticed on the dash "peal" but swop spelt with an "a" ??? biggrin.gif

Jeff TT

"Swop" is the phonetic spelling and pronunciation of "Swap". Swap comes from Middle English "swappen" which meant to strike the hands together in closing a deal.

Useless fact of the day #210.

Muwhahahahaha funny how when i moan about a topic going of im accused of knocking and fighting with people, and now i hope jeff can see how irretating it is biggrin.gif

Jeff i think this is a very very good idea.

There are loads of zed tech links out there, but one nice decent link to one page would be the way to go.

Jeff,

In a word 'Fanbloodytasticmateit'sthedogsbolloxIcan'twaituntilit'sfunctional!!!

I haven't been on this forum long, but I definately have to say that you guys are the masters of going off topic in as short a timeframe as possible. Fantastic!

Jeff - I think it will be great to have a portal type thing for Z tech stuff. Hope you get it done soon, I'm probably going to be needing it! :-)

Whats this then JPH? LOL!

Just trying to join in with the best of 'em :-)

Gets my vote - I worry (sad eh?) that someone might pull the plug on TT net at some point and then all that info is lost....

Good grief Ajay you are right! and Mike, Noel Edmonds "SWOP" shop has a lot to answer for. Oh by the way keep to topic pleeeesee. (lol) biggrin.gif

Jeff TT
