thanks, i'm new around here so i didn't know...sorry :)

Lots of different oils around. Many will suggest different brands but its often the case of the sheep thoery. Someone will say an oil is the muts nuts because they were told it was the best.

Allot depends upon the type of driving you do and heat range that the engine will work in. i.e. do you use the car for track days or just poodle around? Oils are vastly complex products nowadays with many additives.

Deffo best to go for a Ester synthetic.

Andy

Slick 50 dont touch with a long pole and a nice fully synth 10W-50 will serve you well for everyday use.

Been recomended Millers oil byt Monoghanroyal. Currently running 10W40 Magnatec.

just read through the intense thread by "Oilman" and now i'm totally confused! He recommends Silkolene PRO S 10w-50 ester Fully Synthetic. I've got no idea how much that costs, i've never heard of it before but I do have the luxury of living 10minutes away from Demon Tweeks so i'll pay them a visit tomorrow and see what they've got in the 10w-50 department within my budget.

By the way, just got my first Z'd and i'm terrified of something going wrong. Driving like my granny at the moment with the occasional blip on the throttle when some arse in a Nova tries to see what radio station i'm listening to through the back window...loads of fun!

100% ditto there!!!

...whipped a Scooby today too, i just love letting them go by, boosting there ego only to be past 10 seconds later by my fighter jet at mach 1. I make a point of being close enough when i overtake to see the dum look on their face just like in the film "Top Gun" only i'm not upside down when i give the bird.

Millers is good as is silkolene and castrol.

Magnatec ok but wouldn't use it again if I was you. Its only a a semi synthetic and the sales pitch is a con. All good oils coat the engine ;)

Andy

will do

It was put in there by the dealer. It's a thinner oil that the 20w50 or whatever is the standard stuff.

It'll not be in there for long, looking at changing it soon. Should be ok for a while though shouldn't it?

Done about 600miles since I got the car, so will probably do another 1500 before I change it again. It has light use anyway, try not to drive on boost all that much.

Millers Semi-Synthetic 10W - 40W enough said, it's gonna be the best for your engine that's done that mileage!!

.

Wont cause any probs Si, the use of a high quality oil will just protect the engine better in the long term.

Andy

Cool....I'll get some Millers next time Monaghanroyal gets his next batch.

Just worried than an oil too thin will weep between seals of a car's engine that's mid life.

chad is good royal ;)

Most good quality 10/40 semi-synth oils do the trick change the stuff every 3K so mine comes out looking like it went in "Ask the wife if you think I'm lying" and the oils clean as well :)

Magnatec 10w40 is Nissan's choice so it won't do any harm, it's only a semi-synth though so a fully synth is way better.

However if you intend to change it within 3000 miles anyway, just wait until then before switching to a fully synth.

Oh and Slick-50 DON'T TOUCH IT you have been warned :wack:

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
