[rant]Just popped into my local Safeway...aka Morrisons, went to find a parking space, I do what I usually do and find a space in an out of the way locations and take up 2 spaces. The amounts of times I've seen car doors needlessly walloped is unreal. Being in the zed, I thought I'd take no chances.

Went in, got some crisps, a sandwich and a bottle of coke. Came back outside to find some toss piece has parked his van directly behind my car. No way of getting out what so ever.

So, I thought, I'll go in calmly and collectively and ask for someone to make an announcement over the tannoy system. Eventually some scrawny look wretch comes over and said, “oh right, that'll be my van then”. So I said, in a nice calm way, “you couldn't move it could you? You're blocking me in and I need to get back for work.” To which his response was, “oh yeah, you took up two spaces, so I thought I'd block you in.” So with that, I flew off the handle, said “just get out there and move it”. It's sometimes impossible to get a Zed in a parking space because it's so wide. He said, “you shouldn't have done that”. So I got a bit more mad at him and started swearing and loosing the plot, last words were in front of everyone while I was sat in my car were “just get out of the way you bearded idiot, I've taken your phone number down (written on side of said van), I'll be calling your boss in a while telling him how much of an imbecile I think you are.” He shut up then.

Shan’t be making the call, but hopefully, he’ll think a bit harder before being a muppet in future.

Sorry, but that wound me up something chronic...what tit!!

Wish I had been in my Cavalier, I told him this as well and said he'd find nice blue paint lines all up his nice white van....

people who take up 2 spaces are idiots (generally) but NOT if youve parked out the way in what sounds like a half-empty car park (it probably was hakf-empty after you kicked off, lol) :)

Why didnt you park in an empty space with a space either side free?

Because there weren't any....it wasn't busy...the point of it is, I didn't want to come back to my zed with a car parked there with dents up the door...the spaces in Morrisons are stupidly small. I was tucked away out of sight.

I happened on my old car and made a right mess.

having been the victim of hit and run door denters i know how frustrating and annoying it is but the biggest bug bear is its the poor victim who has to pay for the repairs as for beardy weirdy bloke was it really worth all the effort calm and mild works a treat calling the boss of the company would have been good aswell

calm and mild who am i trying to kid geez if your in the cav and see him about give him a taste of his own medicine

I actually agree with FunkySi in some points, I’d rather take up two spaces if the there are somewhat much free space on the lot, instead of getting a dent on my car. The Z is quite wide compared to most other cars (In Finland most of the parking spaces are Really small, as the cars.) I where to the US last summer, and from what I can remember the spaces where almost double the size.. Of course you have to mind other people too, I wouldn’t tdo it if they would be the last two on the lot, but if there is at least 1/4 empty I would take up the two places. :)

Ken

you should have done what i do and go and find an empty part of the car park, and park correctly

ive also had the dreaded door clanger in a previous car and it aint nice, but ive also been in a packed car park and seen some one taking up two spaces

one is as bad as the other

i do sympathise with you though

How about parking in the mother and toddler part if they have one, there's loads of space around the car then, or is that bad too?

Sorry but Im with the Van driver here.

ONLY JOKING.

I have the same nightmares about the doors getting dented by women that cant gauge the width of their car properly. It happened to my Vectra a while back by a really fat lady in a mini. and she called me stupid and hurled a load of abuse at me for not leaving her enough room in tesco's Car Park?

Luckily she only hit the wheel.

I so wanted to smack her but you know the score?

I always find a set of several spaces and park in the middle and never particulary close to the supermarket but you can guarantee someone has parked next to her. Even if there are other spaces. I think it attracts people to park next to. Must be pone of those unexplainable phenonenoms!

I so wanted to smack her but you know the score?

Yeah sure do Vini-you were scared she'd slap ya' back! LOL!

I'd have asked the vantard if he knew how to extract a 6" exhaust pipe from someone anus .... and if he didn't know, sugguest that he should either move his van or do some fast reading up on the internet.

I really do hate selfrighteous sods ... pretty much because they don't tend to have more than 35% brain function on a good day.

They usually don't remotely consider the possible ramifications of their smug self righteous actions. It could easily have got out of hands and resulting in physical injurys ... for what ... feeling superior.

I've had notes stuck on my car for parking infront of someones house ... smug sniddy comments about how I am spoiling their view ... even though thier cars in the drive and i'm not blocking them ... and had to park there due to someone infront of my place .. I tend to right them back a nice note explaining that I will park out on the main road if they really want me to ( 150yrds away from my home and a a serious break in spot ) .. but any damage that occurs I will have to compensate myself by removing and selling parts of their house and car since they are the ones that wish me to park there.

I HATE PEOPLE ;)

I must admit that I hate parking in any sort of public car park now, because as you point out the spaces just aren't wide enough in a lot of them, even if you park dead centre. However, I've not gone to the length of taking up two spaces, primarily because I think it gives quite a negative impression of people who drive zeds, and sports cars in general (not saying I don't sympathise with your point though). There just is this idea though that if you drive a nice car it automatically makes you an arrogant tosser, even though this is clearly not the case, so I try to avoid doing anything to reinforce that... well, apart from taking *extreme* pleasure in overtaking Sunday drivers, tourists, lorries, caravans etc, etc. :) But you know what I'm saying.

From last weekend I have now taken to taking up two spaces. Some fu*kwit in a white van has slammed his door against my car and I know for a fact he had plenty of room. Not amused, and I don't care what impression I give now! Oh and I hate those self righteous idiots as well, they get both barrels if they do anything like that too me, I've got no time for there narrow minded views!! Thats my rant for today Dave

Sorry to hear this mate. I live in dread of the day something like this happens. The annoying thing is that it's almost an inevitability. Can very much understand where you're coming from: like I say, I hate parking in any public car park nowadays.

If they dent em - fook em! Have had many people look in descust at taking uo too space but standard supemarket carparks are only designed enough for the little cars out there, yes we can all get our Z'eds into a standard parking space but can we open our doors and get out? Can we fukk!!!

I always take up two spaces. OOOOOOh, im a criminal. Ive tried everything to avoid the dreaded dent fairy but have had the experiance of the occasoinal visit. It pi##es me off when somone thinks they can damage your pride and joy then think 'fook it, they wont mind i have just planted my door 3 cms into that lovely sports car. They can afford it!' AAAAAAARRRRRRRRR it makes me mad!! Time to take my pills!

I use them - the Zed is my baby!

Been *****cked a few times for it though! Sometimes appologise but if I'm having a bad day I shout back.

Get a door ding - pay to get the pannel sorted - then it'll not be the right colour match ... nightmare

not only is there the problem with the door denting fairy , but also i keep getting scrape marks up the front bumper .

as other cars dont seem to know where there car end and mine begins

i now have to reverse into every parking spot . its a real pain

The size of some parking bays means you can't help taking 2 spaces in a ZX. I parked in one m-way service station car park a while back, within the bay as required only to see that all 4 wheels were touching the white lines FFS

I always try to go on the end now so only 1 person can park next to me.

What pisses me off more is when you enter a crowded car park behind some dozy tart in a mini/corsa/fiesta etc and there are just 2 bays left. 1 nice wide one and one small one, you can guarantee the selfish slapper will park her tiny little car in the biggest space leaving you with no chance of squeezing the ZX in the other.

Richard :smash:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Yeah put it right over the white line dead centre of two bays.

Anyone with soul will understand

Anyone without soul is really hard to see and when they get the sun behind them they dissapear altogether and are forgotten.......
