...to work out what pressure each tyre should be run at, you add together the maximum weight each tyre will take (as printed on the side of the tyres) and divide the vehicle weight (with driver and fuel) by this number. The resulting number is then used to multiply the maximum psi or bar as printed on each tyre so that a factor of the maximum psi is achieved.

...is this correct.

Sorry about the maths.

thanks in advance to anyone who both knows if this is correct and can be bothered to answer.

 I just run on 32 all round.....;)

Some manufactors state there should be a difference between front and rear of at least 4 psi......dont know and cant say why but some one will...:D

32 front, 34 rear for stock tyre sizes. I run 33 front, 36 rear with 17's

Correct pressure for the 300zx depends on road types, tyre sizes and your own personal preferences.

although Im not sure thats what your asking ?

It's supposed to be 33 front, 36rear for stock tyres, isn't it?

my car weighs 1653KG with a full tank and me in it.

do some maths and see what you come up with

Well if your weight distribution isn't quite 50%/50% or you have different tyre sizes - I would expect you would run different pressures.

The trick is knowing what the weight is on each tyre.

In practice, the book rating will do - most gauges aren't that accurate, add in the changes when you've been modding away, stripping out air-con, moving batteries, stuffing in bloody great amps, speakers, neons and furry dice; and you'd need to weigh her again at each corner and work it all out again.

But what you say is about right. The loading percentage of each tyre will determine the pressure it should run at.

J spec is 225 all round (not 255) and that's 33psi F / 33psi R

UK spec is 225 F / 245 R and that's 33psi F / 36psi R.

So, 32 all round sounds good to me......:D :rofl:

Ahhh... if only The Duff Man was here!

Aye, where's he gone anyway?

right i know the exact weight on all my wheels. again. do the math and see what comes out.

osf 453Kg nsf 459kg

osr 395 nsr 345

Now you'll need to know your tyres maximum loading weight and pressure (usually printed on the tyre wall, and probably in bar).

Now all you need to do is fill out this formula....

Pressure = (weight / max-load-weight) * max-load-pressure

To convert bar to psi just multiply by 14.5

Simple as that.

Gentlemen - all great answers - and a definitive one too. I'm off out with my calculator - when it stops raining.

thanks again

I find that any thing lower than 36psi all round and she slides around too much. Mind you I do drive like a whore all the time so 36 all round if it suits your driving style. When I had stock wheels I always ran 40psi all round so its up to you to check out how it suits your driving style.

If you drive her hard all the time you'll wear the out side edges of your tyres off just as if they were under inflated. So tyre wear is a good indicator as to how much presure you need for your driving style. + If you live in the city you carn't have her on the edge that often, but us country bumkins are on the edge as soon as the motor is warm.
