I read in another thread that uprating the zorst manifold on a N/A can increase bhp, if so does anybody know which one is best, how much more bhp and where do i get one?? :duffer: :duffer:

I believe Greg Dupree headers are suppose to be the best money can buy, and they are expensive.

Stillens tried and tested GD makes TT manifolds dunno about NA's but Stillens are deffo the ones to have :)

who sells stilens??

MJP

and a few other places ;) ;) ;)

Stillen headers are for the US market only, they will not fit Jap or Euro spec Z's. All the headers on eBay are also US only. Unless you can get someone to modify the unit then it will foul on your steering rack. The only headers that fit the N/A are Jap units. I have spent around 6 months trying to track them down. I have a contact in a Jap exhaust manufacture who has offered to build some but at a very high cost.

If you manage to find some then please let me know

I heard you only need to grind about 5mm off the Stillens to make them fit jap cars. Plenty jap cars with them.

You can get Escort manifolds. Well expensive though.

I have real right hand drive headers. They will be fitted in a week or two, so I can let you know if I think they are worth the money or not.

Found them on an Australian site. The guys were really helpfull there. You can find lot's of performance parts on their sites for the N/A.

A good place to look is http://www.ttzed.com Their underdrive pully's are the dogs..

Chris..

Oh yeah...And the stillen headers are a pig to fit on the UK or Jap cars. You have to half flatten one of the pipes, so I have been told.

Chris..

Cheers mate, but already de catted. I think i might need to change the front part down pipes and manifold etc.

is it a good mod to decat a an NA thought back pressure would be an issue i know some cars it doesnt work very well on!

Decat is good but must run it with some kind of back box, not straight through.

The N/A does need a little back pressure.

agghh right

If you get a decent equal lenght manifol then this will eliminate the need for backpressure

You don't necessarily want equal length on a road car. Better to spread the primary lengths by a few inches to widen the power band a little.

Basically you need to aim so that the primary length is tuned for the engines expected peak torque RPM and exhaust valve opening position then swing the lengths to either side of the ideal figure. If you're going for a screamer, maybe better to tune for between peak torque and peak power RPM.

Length (in) = ((850 * (EVO+180deg)) / Trpm) - 3 will get you close to the length you want to use

Thanks for that John

Do you know if Leon ever built a Z manifold. I was over there about 1 1/2 ago and he was thinking of it. Would be nice to get some decent units on the market. I do however expect the prototype to be very expensive due to the extensive labour cost. If Leon were interested, I could drop a set of Stillen units off with him to use as a template.

Thanks

Dave

Hopefully I will have some input into this thread later this week concerning N/A headers.

I was speaking to Mike at MJP today who supplies Stillen headers. He confirmed that they can be fitted to JDM cars, but some modification is rerquired. As he doesnt fit them personally then he couldnt tell me how much modding is needed.

I have some "ebay headers", which my local guys are going to have a go at fitting this week. So Ill let you know!!!

The ebay supplier has stated in writing that he will refund the purchase price if they do not fit.(but not the labour costs). that seems fair to me.

Just watch this post!!! :D :D
