Cruise Control Question

Tried to set my Cruise Control last night at 120 (Private road officer wink.gif ) but the max speed it would work at is 100 (MPH)

Is this normal ?

I am not 100% sure but I think I've set mine over 100mph

Yes this is normal. Cruise control can be set between 30mph and 100mph only.

I *think* Jap cars end up as 40mph -> 112mph with a convertor on.. AFAIK E&OE smile.gif

The cruise module for an import can be converted too. Mine now works from 30 to about 95mph.

Thanks for the info, now, how do we go about 'fixing' it ?

I've seen something on the Australian site that shows how to modify the circuit board to make it work at differetn ranges, but cant remember the max range. Its a desolder and dismantle job on the board that controls the logic. The board is by the ECU.....This is the only way to do it. But isnt cruise control to 100mph enough?!!!

As I understand it, the modification on the Australian board (which is the one I did to mine) converts a Jap. spec cruise control unit into a UK spec unit. You simply have to move a few resistors around.

If you already have a UK unit, there's nothing much you can do.

Have you got a link to that ?

I think the Aussie board is down at the moment, but you can usually get the page if you know the full URL

I don't have the link any more unfortunately.

I originally bought a UK unit, but it didn't fit into my car (different connector), so I modified mine. I think the UK unit is from a 1992 car if anyone is interested in it.

If anyone wants to do the mod to the earlier unit, I could take mine apart again and list the positions of the resistors. There are 7 or 8 resistors and around 18-20 places to put them - you simply have to move a few from one place to another and the max speed changes.
