OK.. very simple really. I did some private work for a person and they won't pay me for the work. Truth being, not declared. I know bad bad boy but I wan't my dosh anyways,

Anyone got any ideas how to get it without resorting to violence. Not that I'm agaist violence but I thought someone out there may have a more subtle way. It isn't a lot of cash, only £800 or so, but I did the work.

Ideas welcome ..

Cheers

LOL ... If he was on the forum .. I would find him anyways ..

It's the principle TBH .. I did the work .. he won't pay .. what a complete ****er.

Have a word with Twinpier - I think he's a debt collector and knows the legal side of things. Alternatively, threaten to raise an invoice from a registered company for the work, tell him it will therefore incur VAT and possibly interest, and court costs etc..

I will happily raise an invoice on my company letterhead and then pass to my collection company if it helps...

Sorry to hear this mate - fekking scum

I had a similar problem a few years back. A so-called mate needed an accountant but didn't want to pay the price of a local firm so I did his accounts and tax returns for a fraction of the cost to help him out. He was going through a divorce, custody battle etc.

I gave him my bill but the b@stard didn't pay it

I kind of knew he took cash without ringing it in the till so you'd think he would have known better as I could easily report him to the Inland Revenue and Custome & Excise etc.......

........so I did annonymously. They took him to the cleaners and he lost his business and house. Justice in the end as he had ripped off many others too apparently

Good luck mate, hope you get your money.

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Cheers fellas .. I think I will go down the face to face route, no frightening tactics .. just knocking at the door for my money ... I am hoping that this will get him into action .. next, well I'm not sure ... But I am sure I won't go down the real scary tactics route, I would but not with kids around .. just not fair to them ...

I could blow up his car though ... dont worry, it's only a range rover ... FFS

If your gonna do anything, even just big words with this guy, HAVE THIS THREAD DELETED NOW!

Use your head eh.

Hope it all works out.

Send around some big people to ask politely for the money, get them to say the debt has been passed onto them and they will collect it. its not violent but it does scare someone in a professional way (because they think they will get the shit kicked out of them).

it doesnt matter if work is off the books, its none of his business what you do with the cash, you can always self declare it in 10 months if you want,

I agree with mike, big guy in a suit, professional manner. If you go down the physical route and he doesnt back down youve got nowhere to go but get physical, if you go the "debt recovery agent" route and it doesnt work, youve not lost anything

Cheers for all your replies fellas. I'm going to go round tonight and take it from there.

Nothing like a face to face meeting.

Send a solicitors letter. Make sure its a good solicitor and not a cr@p one. So far you haven't done anything wrong and have had no additional earnings to declare. + Your Earnings from this job are less than £10,000 pounds per month so you don't have to decare to inland revenue until the end of the next tax year.

Going to a solicitor will legally register your dept and you can send a demand for interest at upto 10% above base, legal costs if you have to go to court and any lost of earnings through that court apearance.

Even then you could still just forget to declare. If they investigate you'll get a tax bill. If they don't, which I very much doubt they will, Then after 3 years they cannot claim against you any way. However I'm sure you won't forget will you.

Chris at twinpier is a top chap & is helping me with a guy that ripped me off on ebay. not sure how much help he'd be with an undeclared PJ but deffo worth dropping him a line :)

Well I have seen him and he promises me that I will have the money by the end of the week .. hmmm I will give him the chance at least until the end of the week. I do have access to his server so I am going to remove the files until I receive payment.

If I don't get it then I will instruct my solicitor to take things further.

Why can't people just pay you for what you are owed??? Do a good job and you get treated like this . FFS

Chris We recruited the staff for a security gaurd control centre (all three shifts) for a supposed friend. Spent over £1000 on adds. Paid for 3 members of staff to do a day vetting, an addministrator to type print and post out all the please come for interveiw and no thanks, the cost of envelopes, franking nad then 3 Staff interviewing for 2 days. Then the same procces all over again must have cost me about £2500.

Then did he pay? Did he fook.

He asked me I didn't offer. + He took on 12 staff from us. I assure you something very unpleasant will happen to him, but it will be legit. Or i'll be a long way away.

So believe me even people you know and trust can some times turn out to be scumbags.

P.S I hope you get your dosh.
