Oh no blue smoke.

When idling there is no smoke at all.

When i floor it no smoke also.

When crusing say 60mph and i lift of the gas and then press it again i get a ploom of blue smoke. Comes from both exhausts and only does it when doing 40 plus. Also yesterday i turned the engine of without using the turbo timer and then 5 mins later started it and big blue ploom came from both exhausts.

Had a decat exhaust put on friday and geoff at zedorld showed me the turbos, no oil or anything nasty there. He put on brand new pcv valves so i wouldnt have thought it was that either.

Any ideas guys

The cats can take the smoke out of the exhaust, remove the cats and you can get smoke, I bet if you put them back in it would stop.

Pheraps but i have driven about 300 miles smoke free, wouldnt it have started nearly straight away

TBH I dont really understand this smoking/de-cat/straight thru exhaust thing. Maybe you didnt notice it before?

Maybe someone on here who is clever can tell us. Sorry, but its a typical result of exhaust/de-cat move. Especially on 200Sx

Maybee it is the decat but i cant see the amount of smoke it is making now being dispursed by the cats. Have read all the blurb re turbos seals going etc and spoke to zedworld and chris greddy and opions sounds like it isnt the turbos. Went out again today and no smoke again until engine hot and doing 50+ as before. Also turned her of with out using the timer and started her again and puff of blue smoke again.

Someone must have a clue ?

Cats will not hide the blue smoke "correct"

Cats will however create a small amount of exhaust backpressure "enough to help the std oil seals to seal"

If you remove your cats off an engine with stock tubs you are increasing the risk of oil leaks through the stock turbo oil seals. IMO once they start to leak thats it, you can replace your cats but will prob have the same problem. The decat process is a seperate process and can not be blamed for the oil seal failure, it just makes it more apparent. If this is the case then your tubs are/were on the way out, it may well be something else though. Try a compression test before you splash out on Unnecessarily. It sounds like its not your tubs at fault.

Run it back over to Z-World or any other Z mechanic and ask them to check it over.

;)

Irrelevant of who done the de-catt and what ones were used, once you do this there is a risk of rear piston ring failure in the turbo, it's happened on zeds within 100 miles and some it's still not done it years down the line.

I sold turbo's for around 4 years and 90% were after someone de-catted. It's entirely dependant on the wear and age of the existing tubs and the engines breathing system, in my opinion mate, it's the tubs :(

That is exactly what my car was doing and it was a cracked piston crown.

Before checking the tubs, check the car has not been overfilled with oil, also check the rubber hoses that connect to the PCV valves are on tight,

then check the tubs for signs of oil ect

other posibilities are pistons and valve seals,

Checked te oil its half way, i also noticed today a funny sort of knock coming from underneath and the back of the plenum

The reason I said the cats "hide" the smoke is because a friend had a carlton GSi 24v, he removed the cats, it smoked, every year for MOT he refitted them, and no smoke. Easy as that.

Its ye tracking mate :D

were about in Wales r u?

Pop down bud , we will do a compression/leak test. Drop us a line anytime to arrange it.

Cheers

Sorry to be the barer of bad news, but I agree with Paul (Smithy) I'd say Turbo oil seals. I've had quite a few T5's and I've had it happen to my Z + 2 T5's smoke on the over run is defo oil passing the Tub oil seal.
