Yep, wish we had those when I was in the RN...morse wasn't widely used much while I was in anyway! Thank god, it was so slow but could be heard around the world with low power.

 

Falklands was a classic example of that! Satellite comms? Arse!

This board HAS BEEN nice...but not anymore, and I know techies JUST HATE readind useless rants posted by stupid "Agents provocateurs".

 

I know several of them are really considering permanently leaving this board, and you cannot imagine how close I am to do this.

 

After all, techies cars ARE working...probably because we're busy tuning them perfectly, and not reading/answering useless stuff about "Porsches 951 and transmissions being shared between the Z and the GTO" (just an example...I can get 10 of them).

We did very little morse code in my time, well we did it but wasent paying attention

 

I was considering myself amongst the more technical oriented posters in my statement really Henri.. Although methinks you wouldn't by the sound of it..

Now I don't want to get into a slanging match, I've only been on this forum for a few months after all. The people I've met have been very friendly and keen to help, the passion is for the cars.

 

I'm sorry Henri, but the postings of yours that I've read, however accurate, have always come across as dictatorial and humourless. I have used some of your tech postings and for that I thank you. If the post starts 'Porsche drivers are wimps' or similar I would suggest that you don't read them, if they are causing offence.

 

Yes we need your input, it is a valuable commodity and resource, just as valid is Matty's or Timmy's humour. If this were a purely tech forum you'd only get a couple of people posting and a couple of posts a day.

 

IT'S AN ONLINE COMMUNITY.

 

Not everyone wants to 'tinker' with their cars all the time, to imply that OUR cars aren't working is unjust. I cannot put my ECU into diag mode or explain a code 34 but hey, I have restored 3 cars in the past so I'm not an idiot! When I need to perform a diag I will learn how to do it, that's why I bought the service manual.

 

It would be a sad day if you leave but there will always be friendly, helpful people out there to take your place, there is everything out there if you know where to look.

 

Postings like yours are antogonistics and in the current climate completely unnecessary.
