Not after technical stuff, just wondering how different they are to drive.

Is the NA got much in the way of performance, or is it far inferior to the TT.

How tuneable ae they?

Are there any differences internally (except boost gauge)?

Any other differences?

thanks for your help

Featured Replies

the NA is still a capable performer, 0-60 in 7.1 secs v the TT's 5.6 secs.

its obviously not going to be as tunable as a TT, & to get big increases is gonna cost £££'s!

externally the NA looses the intercooler vents on the front bumper

I drive an NA.Ideal for a day to day car. But the TT is the perfect choice for the weekenders. If you are going to use your car as your main means of transport pick an NA.

Put your foot down in the wet in an NA and you'll soon see your @rse

But the TT go like hell!!!

Welcome to the forum by the way

Something just occurred to me

Why do people say 'it goes like sh!t off a shovel' when, in fact, sh1t would go very slowly off a shovel1....unless you had cholera!

Will be my daily drive TBH as i have a stripped out 200sx for weekends and track days. Like the look more than the performance tbh.

Yep, they are a nice looking motor, especially the SWB!!

Im with the Slickster on that

need the LWB for the 3 kids :wack:

Only kidding.

Think i'm going to go for the NA version then.

To be honest i cant see there being much difference between the two (mpg wise) as long as you stay off the boost (not easy tho i find! )....at the end of the day they're both 3.0 engines which are gonna drink however you drive them. Personally i would go for a TT and just take it easy during the week.

I'd be interested to know what the official stats are for mpg on both....i reckon i get around 20mpg on mine at the mo.

The NA's are cheaper though to buy, and i assume insure. And less to go wrong on them i was thinking :wack:

Dont like the though of engine out to replce a turbo

I use my TT as a daily driver and its a pain in the winter as you have to be so carefuly with the turbo spooling up at junctions. If you not to worried about the speed get an NA, there far more predictable in corners and on wet days.

or get the TT and it can be your daily driver AND your weekend/track car ;)

You have to be mad to use your daily driver as a track car.

Insurance is the same for NA and TT, and TT's can be had at stupidly cheap prices at the moment.

nah well true enough, i spose if you have your stripped out 200 then u've got your toy for the week end ;)

Not sure how much cheaper the NA's are to buy, but from what i could see when i got mine, the cars are an absolute bargain in general for what u get. Insurance wise i have a manual UK TT and worked out £630 (tptf) for 10months, but i dont have any NCB's and am 23 so that was one of the main reasons i went for the 300 cos not only are they a bargain but also ins comps dont see them as high risk ;)

I'm not too sure what to get. I will be importing one anyway, a friend is getting me one. He found an absolutely lovely one for me at the weekend, but it was an auto.

I think i'm going to go for an NA manual. Insurance should be ok, over 30 with full NCD.

I Want one !!!!

Will still love the 200sx though, cheap as chips and easy to mod - so my track car will have to do !

Hi bud welcome to the club. We have both, the NA and the TT "AND BOTH OF THEM WORK"

If you get a good N/A there are a few mods you can do to it without going into great expense, we are currently experimenting with our one and have achieved excellent results. As the TT has had a few quid spent on it and tends to be temperamental, we only use it for shows or cruising round at weekends, the N/A though gets thrashed every day of its life. The TT has covered approx 3k miles in 4 years, at a cost of just over 15k in repairs and minor mods, The N/A has covered 12k Miles in the last 5 months and the only thing to brake was the alternator. Don’t read this wrong though, you can buy a TT and have very little problems with "until you decide to thrash it that little bit to often" With the N/A and its lack of tubs, you have no turbo lag and much greater low down torque, MPG is about the same "the way we drive it" cost of running is cheaper than running a Ford escort, your not to bothered if you wrap it up so you can have loads more fun trying. We have driven our N/A right through the winter in both snow and rain "you wont find a TT driver doing that" Yes TTs will always be a faster car, but if you want cheap fast reliable fun the N/A is the way forward.

PS...Whatever you do buy a Manwell, autos are heavier and you loose more power through the drivetrain, if you can buy a 2 seater as they are much lighter and more fun to throw around.

Good Luck and give us a shout when you get it, as we would of compiled our N/A performance bolt-on packages by then

Regards

Dave
