Hi all,

its nice to find a uk based Z forum :D

I keep hearing squeeky noise from the bonnet when i go over bumps and things and also when i press the bottom right hand corner of the bonnet.

I tried to vaseline and twist tight the black struts on the bonnet (just to determine where its coming from) but it didnt work

any ideas??

BTW my cars a 300ZX 1990 N/A Jap import, will put a pic up if it lets me edit my profile anytime soon

cheers ;) :D

p.s. any helpfull tips on what to do with a Jap car as a must are welcome e.g. what fuel to use......... ;)

p.p.s all i need to work on this car is the kmh to mph conversion, and i also hear that imports run differently on UK fuel and that they can be setup for UK fuel which increaces performance and optimises fuel efficiency, I cud be wrong though

fuel: use shell optimax

jap petrol is has a higher ron rating than standard uk fuel (unleaded)

shell optimax has a ron rating of 97

unleaded has a ron rating of 95

squeak ??

The squeak isn't just a badly fitted front panel is it? Check the bonnet edge isn't rubbing against the top of the panel between the headlights :)

paulbrem is spot on with the fuel advice - go for Optimax wherever possible! As for setting the car up for UK fuel, I assume that would be done via a new ECU, in which case you might as well get a performance ECU (that and induction kit are the easiest way to go for performance increase in an NA, AFAIK)

The noise will be the bonnet catch, open the bonnet and wrap some tape on the U catch that it attached to the bonnet.

Squeek is known as the bonnet cricket (as in grasshopper not sport! )

to cure this ether use the tape method discribed by Mac or grease up the

bonnet catch and staple. Those two solutions can be used together to get rid of it :p

Cheers

Allan

will try all, thanx ;)

bit of tape seems to have done the trick ;)

Thanks from me as well. I put some gaffer tape round the U thing and it stopped the squeak!

Respect to all!!!

Amazing how the tape stops it,It was doing my head in for ages and since I stuck the tape on no more noise.

This should become a FAQ

yeah, apparently it's a common problem,

as evident by all of u aswell lol
