I think I may have been talking to someone who was talking out of their ar5e  ??

He said that if I had a 8" wide rim it would take a minimum of 195 upto 285width tyres??

Anyone seen a guide as to what tyre width is recommended to go on what rim width

He may be right for all I know but would rather have an opinion off you guys

Cheers

265 max IMO pref go smaller

i put a post on a few days ago about this

the feedback i got is that 265 is the max to go on a 8" rim

Does anyone know how to calculate the offsets etc for the Z as iI'm thinking of getting a nice set of EVOX split rims direct from Germany.

The standard offset for a 7.5" wheel (UK front, Jap both) is 45mm.

For the UK rear, an 8.5" wheel it is 35mm.

If you are looking to put a different sized wheel on I'd ask someone who already has that size on for their offset, although this site might help a bit.

Simon.

Sorry Simon having read that I'm even more confused than I was before. So are you telling me that the offset will change with the different width of wheel. Also talking standard wheels is of no use to me because as you can see from my sig pic unless the offsets remain the same as I haven't had standard wheels for a long time because they won't fit over my big brakes. However I want to go to a 19 X 8.5 front and a 19 X 11 rear with as deep a dish as poss. Help

Yes, the offset can change with a different width of wheel.

Crudely it's like adding or removing a spacer. The wheel width remains the same, but the position in relation to the hub ( and the car ) is altered. Obviously you need to ensure that the wheel does not rub internally or externally.

See if this link helps at all:

Simon.

That seems to say????? oh *****cks I'll have to get someone to do it for me :headvswal I'm OK with diagrams and I can see that offset is relevant to where the wheel meets the hub in relationship to the wheels centre line, but how does that affect the caliper clearance

We should have a giff drowning.
