Hey,

I have been searching on Ebay for induction kits for my 1992 300ZX N/A. Can anyone give me some advice to which one is the best to buy, the price range varies, so was just wondering which one I actually need! Also are they easy to fit yourself.

Does anyone have any pictures with one fitted. Also, do I need two of them ot just one?

Cheers for your help in advance

Jon

I think Apexi is the favoured choice on here, personally I have a Blitz SUS cos it sounds lovely, they are an easy job to fit, hardest part is taking the old airbox out, and you only need the one, although you can get twins they are not worth it unless you are going for serious horsepower, could do pics tomorrow if you still need them then. I would not recommend the cheaper versions you see on ebay as you need good filtration and dont want crap getting into your engine, but thats just my opinion.

yeah dont go for the unbranded £20 ebay ones mate as theyre cheap and the filter material goes all white patches on you after a couple of years. save up for an ApexI Powerflow like the fellas have said. Oh, and don't get a universal ApexI Powerflow cos it wont fit the Z (some idiot found that out the hard way :x: )

I have a Blitz sus filter too, sounds awesome

I f i was to go for another, it would be the Apexi though.

They have good write-ups & are considerably cheaper!

The Apexi sounds like the one then. Some pics would be appreciated SuffolkZX, just so I know that I actually put it on right!!!

here ya go jon powerintake.jpg

available from http://www.getgreddy.co.uk

this is obviously a single cone - replacing the box.

its a Bomz racing cone which is ok(ish) but nothing compared to the big names

mate please dont buy one of the induction kits of ebay that are £29 etc they are the worst things ever which should not be advertised for our cars!!!!!

I can get them trade for £8 they look quite nice obviously not branded..

I bought one once and fitted it to my previous car a rover 420 turbo drove down the road sounded awsome but anything over 3500 revs and the car lost all its power and felt like it had fuel air starvation...(which it did)

there ok for little boy racers 1.4's

but if your gonna fit one to your Z then your a brave man, I know how it feels sometimes like hhhmmmm only 30 quid!!! cant go wrong etc

The effect on your engine could be damaging and would out weigh the cost ten fold so get a proper induction kit for the long run!!

and Ill do the same because I havent got one yet and Im glad youve asked this question

HTH :)

there you go. SkylineDave has put some pictures up, you cant really go wrong fitting it as you can see, take the old airbox out and replace with your new filter, job done.

I know you have one now so my comments are a bit late. But someone did a crude but effective test of various "named" kits using a hoover and a white sheet and IIRC some way of testing flow. The Apexi won on flow and filtration. Best of both worlds. Thats why I have Apexi too.

Here is a wee fitting guide

Those guides certainly help, many thanks. Think I'm confident enough to go ahead and do it when the kit arrives!!

Just one more question! If I wanted to fit twin induction in the future how does that work, is the T-pipe binned and a new one put in?

Cheers

Not quite that simple, ECU will need remapping for it, it's not a quick "bolt on" mod.

Will it need re-mapping just for the single induction kit?

nah
