OK, I've spoken to Johnny and this is where it's at.

Here's the description of how it works, posted earlier by Smithy:

Ok guys here's how the kit works, ON BOOST the one way valves are closed, Mio filters allow crankcase fumes to escape into the air induction to prevent build up, as per standard breather system.

OFF BOOST, which is where the problems are, Internal valves inside the Mio filters are now closed preventing air from being drawn into turbo charger inlet pipes. One way valves now open, drawing a vacuum from the inlet manifold, into the engine crankcase via the rocker cover connections. This metered crankcase depression prevents oil from escaping past the turbo end seals, causing exhaust oil smoke, there you go !!!

My conclusion is, the existing standard exhaust set up with cats, keeps back pressure nice and high, when this pressure reduces it causes the piston to wriggle free from the seal, until eventually there is a gap all the way around piston and seal does not mate up. If you're just removing cats it shouldn't be a problem, if your doing the exhaust as well, I would fit the kit, just in case lack of pressure does now wear out the seals. If you're smoking now already try the kit, it can only help matters as it did with mine. The kit can be fitted by anyone who's got screwdrivers and a few pairs of different pliers ...

If your turbos are getting on a bit, starting to smoke or you're removing cats then this seems like reasonable insurance against potentially quick and expensive turbo demise. Several people already have this fitted and report good results.

So far we have 7 people who have shown an interest :-

Price is normally approx £133 all in (incl. VAT & postage), cost to us will be £105 all in, (£95, plus £10 postage).

Delivery should be around 15 days after the order goes through.

I would like to close this by Friday 19th October, so please confirm below if you're in.

Spoke to Johnny early this afternoon - hey first phone call too! Added my name to the list. He mentioned that he hopes to order in a couple of days, giving time for the remaining names on the list to pay up (come on guys, is the message)!

So looks like there is a chance of catching a late addition to the order, if you want to (like me).

Great technical info and organising by Smithy and Andyp. Thanks, Geoff

Just been on the phone to Johnny.

He hasn't got the cash from Willy, who it seems is paying for Eric and Griffin as well(I'd guess). Can one of you get in touch and make sure he has the funds because this is holding up the order.

Also, he mentioned Senna (Glen) but I didn't have him on my list - please confirm.

Lastly, he mentioned a credit card problem with Maciej - please confirm if you think you've paid.

If you need to email him then use the Venom address :- venom-motorsport@lineone.net

His Grasshopper one is Donld at the moment (probably needs a really expensive computer consultant to go fix it for him smile.gif)

Willy has send several emails to Johnny about the payment, but never got a reply

I tried to reach him by Phone, no luck either..

Does he have a fax ?

or should we try to send smoke signals ? (with our leaking turbos) wink.gif

Am I too late?

Only got my car last week but have been reading this thread with intrest.

It has a scorpion exhaust with cats removed and turbos that are getting a bit tired, with minor smoke as described in this thread.

Sounds like the breather is woth a go for the price.

  • Author

Not too late. Call him today and give him your credit card no. over the phone.

Welcome !

At this rate we *might* get the kit in 2002!

Tim

OK, fitted Warrens breather kit for him today. Bit of a pig with getting to the hoses etc but generally not too bad as things go... At least now I've had the practise at breaking someone elses car for when mine arrives wink.gif

Andy, Wazza,

How long did it take ?

Just added one more name (miDJAR) - contacted me by email yesterday ....

Johnny, please read your e-mail and reply to me asap.

Griffin,

Johnny has been having trouble with his email - he can receive but not reply.

Not sure if this is sorted yet, but it may be worth giving him a ring as opposed to waiting for a mail.

Cheers

Ajay
