If you drive like a granny they will be fine.

They are very hard rubber and will last a long time.

But they have terrible grip and are wasted being put on a 300ZX.

How much is your good deal?

I have a recept with the stuff I got with my car of £60 a tyre for the 245 Kumhos which where on the car when I got it.

Have a look on mytyres.co.uk

:( Martin dont go for the cheap option on tyres mate cos they wont last long and they wont grip as well bud.....IMHO

*****cks ..they're great

No name , no street cred. If you have a look aroung they came about 5th in the great scheme of things

More than happy with mine. Grip seems as good as the Bridgestones I had on previously, although I do have a pair of Goodyear F1s sitting in the garage for when I've worn them down... ;)

VW fit them as standard to some of their cars, so they cant be too bad on "normal" cars. Generally you pay extra just for a "name" and not always for any return.

This may be true for electronics but for tyres I have found the major brands a lot better and safer than the minor brands.

Not picking a fight but Kuhmo is probably not so minor, but I know what you mean. I was not saying the were as good, just might be. Or good enough anyway. Who here really needs the "best" tyres, I dont, most of the time anyway.

I remember when Nissan, read Datsun, made rubbish little cars.

any one remember when Toyo's were "just" a budget tyre??

iv gone over to Goodyear Eagle F1's after running Marangoni's, i think i might switch back after they wear out :x:

It is not so minor I know. Infact to to amature rally events and most people are using Kuhmo.

But I have has personal experience with those tyres and they are not good.

I had the originally on my car when I first got it, and I thought it was just the power of the car which made it wheel spin all the time. After I got a puncture in the side wall of the tyre I had to change them and I went for a Bridgstone tyre. It was the first time I was able to floor the car in 2nd gear with out it wheel spinning.

Have a look at this american site. Kumho is up there with the best of them. I agree with Markstevens.

But these are from personal accounts of different people who drive different cars and you cant really compare them.

What is a good tyre for a family saloon is not a good tyre for a 300bhp rear wheel drive car. we dont know what car these people are driving.

If you put Kumho on a Cleo and then put on Bridgestone, Goodyear or Mitcheiln you would probably not be able to tell much difference as the capability of the car is way below the design of the tyre.

This is completely the opposite case for our cars where the capability of the car exceeds 95% of the tyres on the market.

I have used 5 different brand types on my car and 8 different types of tyre

1 Kanang,

1 Kumho 712

2 Falken, 501 + 451

1 Goodridge, E-Profiler

3 Bridgestone, ER30, S02 + S03

And I would the Kumhos where the worse and would say they are dangerous for a 300ZX.

As said before, tyres are the only thing that is in contact with the ground and is not a part which I would like to try save money on.

My 300 had new Nankang tyres on the the front when I got it.

They made it shake terribly at high speed even when I had them re-ballanced.

A 300 specialist told me they were rubbish and to get rid of them. He also showed me the side walls were too high despite being labeled the correct size.

I replacewd them with Falken (from black cricles.com) and the shaking stopped straight away.

I'd never recommend Nankang and would always try and get something a little better.

Cheers for your replies guys, cost is the main thing here, the 4 kuhmos are £260 against £580 for goodyears......

Mine had /has a unknown budget tyre on it when i bought her and its useless in the wet

have to think about this one a bit more me think

Martin, I know how you like to drive bud  and i wouldn't take the cheapest route mate ;) but then i'm not saying go a buy the most dear either

Matt

hi

just another point of view,

i have kumhos on the back of my TT they have been on there for 3 months max and approx 3k miles now they bald and it spins in 1st 2nd and 3rd weather it is wet or dry since i put them on.

for such a powerfull car i will be putting better tyres on asap, they might be cheaper than other tyres but the money you save wont pay for fixing it if it ends up in a ditch because of the crap tyres?

regards

rich
