dont know if anyone has had this before but when I start my TT from cold in the mornings it starts quitely and smoothly but after its been running for 45 seconds it starts to make a funny noise intil its warmed up for a couple of minutes by which time its basically the most quietest engine ever heard

its not tappets or sounds worry ing like bearings etc and Its not the power steering pump

but it sounds like a power steering pump doing an impression of an alarm not very loud you know when you turn your steering wheel from side to side and side to side but it sounds more like the engines making the noise

bit weird how the engine starts up fine for a minute then the noise comes

but then its so quiet afterwards

either how its having an oil change tommorrow.

any other tips for the service as I may aswell check all is ok

anyone used addittives succesfully before etc ie petrol ones

thanks

Not sure about the noise, but as for the additives question, do not use any oil additives. The only fuel additives that are worth using are strong cleaning agents (Redline etc - not the usual crap from Halfords) if you have dirty or clogged injectors.

You may require octane boosters if you have an import tuned to the limit otherwise not necessary.

Most additives are parafin and a waste of money, also could do more harm than good where they are not needed.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

First see if you can locate the source of the sound.

it might be the tensioner pulley of the aircon...they tend to go in a "squeaky" way :)

or slightly worse: one of the timingbelt (tensioner) pulleys

If turning the aircon on/off makes the sound go different, the aircon tensioner pulley is most likely the cause..

To find where the noise is coming from use a

long screwdriver and place it on your ear, then go around all the

areas you think the noise is coming from. you will know when you find it

....you will know when you find it

Yup, especially if its one of the belts    ;) FFS make sure its the blunt end you stick in your ear :D

Forgot to add................

Keep the screwdriver away from the spinning fan or you could have an ear like Doctor Spock:D

cheers guys :hyper:
