Just been on the autotrader website looking at prices on the zx ,then looked at prices for the mitsubishi 3000 gto .for a 91 nissan 300 zx tt they are averaging £2500 to £3500 where most 91 gto's are going for £4500 to £5000 .when i was looking for a zx this time last year both cars were evenly matched in price (maybe the gto a little higher) does anyone know why zx prices have fallen so sharply?

I bought my TT a few weeks back, and when I was looking on Autotrader within a 200 mile range prices were between £3500 - £6000.

its what i thought...gto owners got more money than sense...:D

They are falling because people aren't always lookig after them, and they are being sold as sheds at cheap prices.

i.e mine, i paid £2,500.00 for mine UK TT Auto and i am now having to spend in excess of £1500.00 to put things right on it because it wasn't looked after.  I think now if i was going to buy another 300 i would not pay any less than £5,000.00 for one. ;)

Just had a search now. Searching for Nissan 300zx any age, any mileage, so this will cover the much cheaper Z31 too, and will Include NA and TT. There are very few Zeds over 1993 in the Uk(inc imports)

£2k-£3k = 13

£3k-£4k = 31

£4k-£5k = 36

£5k-£6k = 15

£6k-£7k = 8

Majorty are £4-5k

It probably does'nt help that you can get a 1 year old Nissan 350Z for £15k

Another possibility is that the GTO being a 4WD will be better for the winter months. The ZX with its targa-tops is a summer car.

Most decent ZXs within 100 miles of me are still £4-5000+ There are also some cheap GTOs about too so the spread is a little more even.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The gto is still the current model and with the 300zx being discontinued in the uk for nearly ten years, then being replaced with the 350z. The 350z is cheaper than the 300zx was back in 1990. Don`t make any sense to me

i paid 6 grand for a fresh imported black 93tt,40,000km with a cat-back apexi, body kit, volks wheels, and a engine so clean you could see your face in it,feels tight,no rattles or shakes and most important has not been molested by a english young nova upgrade that cant afford the insurance never mind proper parts at the right service intervals-----my point is ive had 3 two grand dogs in the past and all you end up doing is spendind good wonga to bring it back up to scratch, so in october i thought fook it!!!!! and went out and paid dear for a good one that i know is not gunna cost me my house to sort out

Exactly. Couldn't agree more. That's just what I did with mine and (touch wood) it's hardly caused me any trouble, certainly nothing major and expensive!

Spending 5 or 6 k on a car doesnt always guarantee a good car....buying a car is like a lottery...with a zed even more so....I am just lucky I can work on my own car as i'd hate to have bought a car then have to rely on Nissan or some other rip off merchants repairing/botching up.

Even a service history I dont think is a real guarantee, the technicians in most dealerships have prob missed out an oil change/filter change, cleaned the filter on the outside to make it look new, then kept the filter for a home job while stamping your service book...aha another satisfied customer.....not.

I am not implying all technicians do this...but working in a main dealer is a real eye opener.

Enough warbling from me.....John Crisp

Z's are cheaper bacause they have a lot more niggly problems and they keep on blowing up. Well mine do anyhow.
