my wiper blades, which i put on in the spring ( champion ) started to squeek all the time, no matter how much it was or wasnt raining.

Used washer additve and screenex, no difference, just squeek bloody squeek!!

So I changed the blades for New super dooper Bosch ones (£12 notes each) gauranteed to clear screen and be silent!

Great for 4 days. now guess what------ squeek bloody squeek again, driving me up the wall? as I use the car most days and of course on most days its raining.

Any body any ideas, other than changing the windscreen or the car??

Are you sure it's the blades and not the mechanics of the arm??

Simon.

How frustrating is that I get that on all of my cars that I have owned it drives me insane...

I have to warn passengers when I use the rear wiper because it scares them, it sounds like you are skidding off the road.

Rainex helped because I didn't need to use it so much, and also seemed to make window smoother.

Mine sounds the same as that too.

mine did this untill god come into my life and told me to get some (mer polish) availible at halfords, clean the screen with it once a week and discover the word of god and the wonder of "mer"

Its been so long, I can't remember what my wipers sound like  :D

Rub the screen with a piece of old newspaper, it helps remove oil film from the screen. This should stop the squeeking.

Leigh.

Mousetrap?

Mousetrap?

Seriously though ( or as serious as possible after a few Stellas.....sweeeet!!) try spraying the wiper mechanism with WD40 and clean the screen with RainX or something similar and the squeek will disappear as if by magic.........

Otherwise just turn up the stereo - my wipers don't squeek and never have

Richard ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

And newspaper (like Leigh said)

IMHO The squeek is usually caused by oil & crap on the windows - so if you change blades and don't clean the window properly (with something like vinegar & water or Mr Muscle) then the squeak just comes back as soon as the new blades get equally contaminated..

Oddly enough, the best pair of blades I ever had (that resisted squeaking for the longest) were a set of Champions.. Bosch ones always started squeaking the quickest for me.

lmao :) I can just see it now.. "Timmy's Turbo Window Cleaning"

Ah it makes me want to quote South Park. I'll just have to:

Timmmahh!

My wipers squeaked like mad, then I changed them for newer ones (they werent that old anyway) and they still squeaked....I tried polish, newspaper and wd40. Nothing helped, in the end I took the wiper arms off and then reseated them - perfectly silent now.

It was driving me mad. But it was a 10 minute job to do them both.

MAC1 - Classic.

Prehaps Timmy Turbo can be the Zed window cleaning service.

Also he could bring some of his oil with him TTMO (Timmy Turbo Massage Oil), I hear it resists friction and heat very well. It also reaches parts other oils cannot reach.

OK, thanks for all your tips so far.

It is definetly the blades, as i took the arms off as suggested, and tried it with no arms, no aqueek. cleaned screen with Mer, newspaper soaked in vineger and resplaced arms and guess what ----- they still squeek!!!!!! FFS!!!!!!

Have you checked whether the arms themselves are squeaking as they adjust over the screen. They move up and down against the spring as well as side to side.

I've obviously been lucky as I've never had this problem on the Z

Simon.

I'm gonna try all of those methods on my Girlfriends Fiat Tipo as that thing squeeks and judders all of the time...

have you checked whether its the glass---hold the wipers and get your mate to move the screen from side to side !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have decided to fix self opening umbrella to the front of bonnet, like a flag standard, to deflect rain from the windscreen, so i can dispense with wipers all together!
