The zed has a problem with air locks and one of the reasons for this is that the Rad is low in the engine bay, just wondering if the rad supports at the bottom, would take some large washers to make the rad sit a fraction higher.

Obviously you would have to monitor the height to make sure it didn't foul on the bonnet, maybe a bit of blue tac on the rad cap to look for the imprint of the bonnet and how close it is?

Your thoughts please?

save your self the grief and just learn to fill it properly :D , you would need to hire it a significant amount to make any real difference , in doing this you would need new hoses both top and bottom not to mention new holding brackets at the top of the rad , then if you sorted all that out you would have to remove/cut the rad cowling away so the viscous fan does not come in to contact with it

Have discussed this with a few people, and while I agree that it is a problem, the water pipes under the plenum (or the junstions if you have had them bypassed) are way higher that the existing rad top. I cant see that you would raise it high enough to do any good :(

Whenever I was filling the rad, I used to park the car on a gentle slope (the entrance to the carpark round the back here has a perfect angle) - or jack the front of the car up..

worked a treat ;) Though I'm sure Shrimpy will be along in a sec to complain how hard the car is to jack up, and how you need 75 scissor jacks at once ;) *ducks*

I already know how to fill it properly old chap :D

The small amount you could raise the rad would not necissitate new hoses or new top brackets, there might be some small trimming of the cowling but not a great deal.

*throws jack arm at Aaron*

*hollow thud*

bl**dy hell, who threw that?

*rubs sore head*

:mac1: ;)

what about fitting a swirl pot?

Not a bad idea, though again a bit restricted on space, swirl pot should really be in the top rad pipe area and there ain't much space there as it is, quite possible though ;)

Mark didn't you have the Howe or Koyo fella ? if anything i thought my Howe was a tad taller anyways. Did you sort your sensor position that you mentioned little while ago, or have i confused you with someone else :nelson:

cheers

This may seem out of context but do you know if you can convert a hard top to a t-top??? how and cost?????????/ pls coz I want a t-top but dont want to get rid of the love of my life, for a car that may well hold plenty of worms just waiting to wriggle out and cost me a bloody fortune!!!!!!!!!!! :hyper:

If anyone knows of the above I forgot to leave my e - mail

Smithy I think you are getting me mixed up with someone else!

Adam the cost of converting to a T top would be out of disproportionate to selling yours and getting a nice T top instead. The slick top model is quite a desirable item and I don't think you would have a lot of problem selling it if it is a TT!

this purge or air separation system is a modification available for skylines

a lot of mazdas (eg. RX7) have a similar system called AST in stock form

or is this the same as the "swirl pot" ? (never heard this term before)
