Why especially for a UK car?

Why especially for a UK car?

Year for year they are worth MORE,also cheaper to insure;)

People dont trust imports wrt service history, condition and mileage, apart from the insurance thats it really. I'd have a Jap zed every time.

Parts arent any more expensive, in fact in some cases they are cheaper eg rear shocks.

insuring for the more than the book price would be pointless unless you get an agreed valuation on it.

does anyone actually know the book price for these cars? you have to pay for it on parkers website now

I'll just check for you, we've got Glasses' ones here.

EDIT No I wont, its not listed :p I would have been undervalued anyway.

I think Parkers will assume average mileage and quality for year which misses the point of the classic status of the car, the older ones anyway.

rear shocks are cheaper because they are lower spec.

The UK spec is worth more coz of the extras you get like RUST ect! :D :x:

Go set fire to your head nielzy!

I take it you dont agree!

just curious where the "UK rust" thing stems from!? time for a poll!! :D

Similar story here.....

......after light front damage (new bumper, 1 head light, indicator and wing) my insurance co sent the assessor round to make sure the car wasn't a write-off owing to the cost of repairs.

When he saw the car (1991 UK spec auto with 74K, FSH etc) he valued it at £5-£5.5K. Hence it got repaired

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I reckon it's all to do with the floor falling out of Duffers car - he of the 'flintstones' mod ;) ;)

Though I must say, there's rust on my UK car and there wasn't on my import. Must get the rust sorted before the car disappears

I've just checked the values listed for Uk Zs in the CAP black book, the other trade price guide, (they have a section for pre 94 cars at the back)

Year Mls clean Average Below retail

1990G 120k £2050 £1725 £1450 £4150

1991H 120K £2275 £1975 £1675 £4475

1992J 100K £2925 £2525 £2175 £5225

1993K 100K £3275 £2875 £2500 £5675

1994L 100K £3700 £3300 £2900 £6695

These are taken from May2004 edition of the guide so 5-6 months old. There has probably been some movement since then but it wont be much.

trade clean- is what a dealer would pay for an almost "ready to retail" car in very good condition throughout with FSH (This what a dealer might offer you in a trade-in)

Average- in reasonable condition given the age and mileage. May need some minor mechanical work/ servicing/ cleaning and touching up of paintwork

Below ave- Poor condition, uneconomical to restore to "Retail condition". poor paintwork, damaged or corroded bodywork, poor interior.

CAP also produce a trade price guide for grey imports. I have yet to see a copy to compare prices
