On a clear motorway a helicopter will not keep up with a 300ZX, unless it was a Jap restricted ZX ;) Top speed of a Z is over 170, and there are few choppers which can keep up with that.

 

You are getting hostility because of speed cameras and because of the police who just sit there with the radar gun all day. Police need to be seen doing things. If you are there with a gun and then pull them over, fair doos you are sending a message out that you are there and you had better slow down, and people will. But if you just send some one a fine through the post, you are not sending out any message other than give us your money. If you pulled that person over they would have slowed down for the rest of the trip I bet, and every one else who saw a car pulled over for speeding would slow down too. But because people are not seeing things being done, the person who has just been caught with the radar gun, will continue at that dangerous speed and other people wont adjust their speed.

 

With every other crime, the police act to prevent it. Police will not stand by watching some one getting beat up thinking, "We will get his address and send him a letter to come to court."

 

When a woman is getting raped, you dont take pictures of it to be used as evidence later when its finished.

 

But the police's attiude to speeding, although speeding is not right, us just that. We have caught you speeding but we wont stop you from speeding just give us the fine money.

 

I dont like speeding, I TRY not to speed, but it is a very unique thing. You can be doing 40 legally on a road, and then on the same road a hundred yards infront its you will be breaking the law. If you miss a sign or new to the area its very easy to speed, especially on some country roads which are usualy national speed limit but for some reason the limit is about 40.

 

I will say that I have speeded. I TRY never to do it on a 30 urban road, but I have made mistakes by missing signs, or the limit changed overnight, I have been paying more attention to the road than the speedo.

as TC said it's government that makes the policy, all police do is enforce it and we are the ones voting the government in.

Things imo that should change but never will, as they make far too much sense.

 

 

Speed limits increased on Mways & dual carriage ways to reflect the technology of cars today, not 1960. Speed limits in certain Built up areas reduced to 20.

 

Mobile 'safety cameras' operated by civilians & local goverments abolished.

 

no monthly Quotas for Traffic police to meet, and then maybe they would concentrate on collaring people for real crimes (road or whatever) and not ruthlessly hammering people for minor infringements to make up the numbers.

 

More Traffic Police and not mindless automated cameras.

 

Mindless automated cameras deployed in built up accident black spots and not revenue generating.

 

Annual Road tax abolished - those who use the road pay for it - any tax should be on fuel. All tax levied from road tax goes directly into the public road fund to improve the system and not directly into government coffers to fund whatever they see fit.

 

No road tax disc. what should be displayed:- a valid MOT disc & a valid insurance disc. Ensuring that the car is deemed to be safe & legally on the road.

 

Garages should not be MOT stations - conflict of interest imo.

 

 

Rail system de-privatised, expanded & modernised & priced not with profit margins in mind(look at Germany) then road congestion would be much much less.

windscreen must allow 80% 0f light thru, even clear glass restricts light so leave the front alone...check the inside of your screen, left upper, it may say AS1...this means it is at max .

Side windows 70% of light has to pass through, any less is a no go as far as the construction and use regulations are concerned, but this wont be a problem for your MOT as this is not part of the test (although cracks/chips in the windscreen are (sometimes) seperate issue...

Generally again, the manufacturer has done this to the limit so any add on tint will be against the regs and therefore us nasty traffic police will victimise you, worst scenario is you can be prohibited (barred from driving your car on the road) behind you, you can do what you like,

 

I will add before some of you get shirty about it...I dont make the rules and think it is a bit big bruv, so, SMW1....100% correct...want yours tested?

haha....bigger picture...government make the laws that we all abide by (well, not all of us...hehe) so the camera thing is nothing to do with the police (and I might add, especially not me as an individual...hate the bloody things...might make me redundant!)

 

And yes, your Z might do 170 but it has to follow the road, not all mways are dead straight and you can bet at 4 am there will be the caravan club annual oouting to f*ck you up, besides, nothings quicker on the road tan a radio!!!....

I know its easy to miss signs saying what the limits are but dont forget the highway code thing, streetlights, built up area. no repeater signs (the small ones every few hundred yards) means 30 limit in conjunction with above.

If you miss the signs there are other clues.

Oooh, I read that, harsh, very harsh...not their job...used to be but the govt are developing a new motorway consortium which means private companys are getting contracted to do a lot of the mundane things, like debris and escorting and stuff, its not nationwide at the mo but its comming. They will be given more power too, like if you are involved in a crash (which may not be your fault) they will come along, move you all out of the way so traffic can flow, completely ferk up the evidence at the scene and possibly ruin your chances of an insurance claim...

What would you prefer now?

 

As for the ticket, legally, if anything falls off your vehicle/trailer towed by it then it is an insecure load 3 points/fine..
