Hi Guys

Have got a water leak today :(

But it looks like its gonna be a bitch to find as I can only see steam!

comming up from the area just below the plenium on the passenger side and its from the gap where the first (nearest bumper) spark plug goes,

Anybody any ideas as how many pipes there are around there, or a diagram of the water circuit in that area.

Any help would be much appreated

probally a loose jubaliee clip cos theres no spay just steam.

I dont really want to try to take the plenium off as I may make a compleate balls of it!

Many thanks

Paul

sounds like a pin-hole in a turbo coolant pipe...mine did that for a few weeks till the hole went to a split...:(

I am now compleatly clueless

no more steam even after a few hot runs, just about a half dosen tee spoons worth on my piece of cardboard in morning?

must be loosing coolant whilst driving about 3/4 of a litre to top up the next day.

Just been out again but after turning off the car after about 3 minutes I took the radiator cap off and no pressure? Is this normal for this water system?

anybody??

Cheers

Paul

No It's Not Normal Mate,u Should Be Holding Pressure For 3 Minutes!-if Not U Got A Leak, getting Hold Of A Coling System Pressure Tester Could Help No End In Finding Your Leak

Hth ;)

You should have water comming out of the bleed screw or cap if you remove it when hot.

It could also be the small rubber hoses (about 4" each) that are attached to the two main pipes carrying water in and out of the head. They are the two large silver pipes located at the front of the head with the two sensors on top.

They are attached to the head by two 4" rubber hoses that are prone to leaking over time, it could be squirting out of there if there is a hairline crack to somewhere else or the steam could just be drifting out from there and escaping looking like its comming from the passenger side.

Another prob is that the water pump seal could have gone, but that would mean that you would see coolant dripping from the crank pulley from underneath.

Other than that, its probably what was sugested above, I would also get system pressure tested if its none of the above because that could also cause the steam under pressure if its not tight.

p.s good luck fixing it too matey :D

seems like we all got probs come up over the past week, I met about three ppl who has turbos go on the way up to :(

Cheers Lads ;)

I thought it was the water pump (although leaking a bit premature)

crank pully has a few drips on the bottom, the steam must have been coming from the pump as it was originally also coming out of the top of the timing belt cover!

Just confusing as it looked like top of engine first,

Dont know how I'm gonna manage if it is the water pump? Think i'll enquire about a leak tester.

Oh and I was'nt sure about there being pressure with this type of coolant system as the expantion bottle is'nt sealed off, I was fully prepared for getting my hand burned but that did'nt happen :o

I recently replaced my water pump mate, it's a good day's work, if you need any advice / help give me a shout.
