hi guys, not meant to be a dig or anything, but why is it that you guys have a superior V6 engine to the RB26-DETT and have trouble/have to spend so much money to get anything close to the Skyline? ;)

 i think we're gonna get some serious incoming from the 'line boys now!!!

...and just on a final note from me... if SkylineGTR-Dave asks why a 3.0 V6 TT isn't as fast as his 2.6 6pot TT, then get him to ask why the new Scooby STi WR1, with a 2.0 4pot single-T has a 0-60 of 4.2.......... should wipe the smile off his face ;)

PMSL :) FFS ROFLMFFFAAAOOOO :)

Yeah me too bud, 4 pot's are arse? Are they? My MR-2 in standard form would kick yer lardy asses! Engine in the back, RWD and it has a magic tree...pine fresh! PMSLMFFFFAAAAOOOOOOOOO! Oh and a highly modified GTi-R came past me the other day....but he shouldn't have. LOL :)

Any decent car will have at least 6 pistons

Quite right, but only in a straight line !!!!

Bob

If you are going to compare them try doing stock vs stock. If you have 2 cars with the same power then up the boost and do mods to it WTF do you expect. I`ve seen VW Golfs do low 12`s with shit load of mods, does this mean all Golfs are faster than Z`s or GTR`s? Plank

Stu, they all use the same engine, apart from minor changes to Cams, Tubs etc.

Bob

FFS! PMSLMFFAOOOO Stu you had that one coming! ROFLMFAO :)

Nice one Bobster, still laughing this end! I mean properly laughing! LOL :)

4 wheel drive - how many tarmac racing cars are 4 wheel drive?

The touring car audi a4 quattro, which they had to put 80kg of ballast in to slow it down, then they just banned it, dont forget the touring cars all ran similar power, only the audi had extra weight for the 4wd system. If it wasnt for the extra weight, a lot of tarmac cars would have 4wd. Didnt they also can the skyline from aus gt cos it was too fast for them?

Dont forget rally cars either...even though the old f2 cars were nearly as quick on tarmac, they couldnt get the extra few seconds generally, and teams were spending far too much money on super trick gearboxes and diffs (i.e. more that the group a/wrc cars) so they also foked that off, and Im sure if the group a/wrc 4wd cars could change the setup from the homologated parts as much as the f2 did, they would be that much faster again.

At the end of the day, when all is said and done, let bygones be bygones and admit taste in cars is all horses for courses.

;)

Cam changes, turbo changes etc? Oh so nothing special then? Its not like Cams and turbos make much difference to are car is it?

Are the diffs the same? Is the 4 WD system the same with all the known GTR modles? Is the chassis the same?

Easiest way to prove a point is bring what you have to Ten Of The Best, that sorts the cars out into who`s the daddy.

Skylines usually walk away with a few trophies but haven`t seen many Z`s taking part. Must be a bit much for them!

Bob

Well, I thought I had come to a like minded, Nissan sports owners site, but it appears there are a lot of narrow minded vacuum heads around here.

A member from this site (Isle of Man) looked into S.O.C. regarding info. on Shell Optimax availability on the Island, seemed a nice chap, now I'm having second thoughts about some of this lot.

Yes, the 300Z is a sportier looking car than the Skyline, and the rareity of both marques is worth ownership, but at the end of the day...... they are not Supra T.T.s

but at the end of the day...... they are not Supra T.T.s

And thank god they are not.

Don't really think it's worth it........

......The ZX is a special car, an opinion shared by everyone here otherwise we wouldn't own one  . But the Skyline is truly an awsome piece of kit, especially the R34GTR. The 4WD system is way more advanced than anyone else has produced giving handling that is probably more superior than ....well anything

All in all, the GTR is almost untouchable, especially when tuned to 1000bhp.....

......but we still love a wind-up on this forum - the banter is 80% of the fun ;)

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

BTW.....

Has a Skyline regained the fastest lap time of Nurburgring yet or does that Blitz Supra still hold the record at 7mins 49secs :nono: ;)

LOL, good point! Also does the Skyline hold the speed record of 260.8mph? I think not, leave that to the Z :) :slap:

At last, a mature member who recognises the Skyline for what it is.

Until you have owned both you can`t really comment, i have and prefer the Skyline, the Z is a nice car to start off with in the semi- high performance line up but then the time comes to move on !!

Bob

Still trying to fight my corner!!

Well said matey, had a right ding dong with a GTi-R this afternoon and proved to me that there is a fast car other than the Z...yep...me MR-2!

I agree Bob, too many know it alls on here who have never driven a Soup, MR-2 Turbo etc. who just assume that the Z is the best car out there! LMFAO :)

Well I have had a 2.8i Celica Supra, a 3.0i Turbo Soup a Capri 2.8i FFS! Sorry the Capri is made by Ford for the benefit of Stu! ;) Oh and I own a modified Z before you all start b1tching! ;)

Just curious as to why alot of our members are jumping ship for Toyota or anything other than a Nissan badge! PMSL :)

Mate of mine has a GTi-R, fookin right rapid thing, same 0-60 as the Z but once you start tuning power to weight takes the piss out of alot of cars. MR-2 tubs again because of weight can put red faces on alot of top motors off the mark.

Bob

aye check out this effort :S wish I had the cash for it

not too sure about the micheal jackson leather jacket style interior tho!

4x4 an all.. tis like a mini Skyline GT-R

Well sorted Gentlemen, you're not such a bad lot after all.

300ZX is a good looker and with decent twin exhausts, sounds really well. Not too many in the N'Wales area, but always make my head turn when spotted.

The only car I will have after my Z is a GTR. It is the only thing I see as a worthy upgrade to the Z. The skyline is a better car but I personally think the Z is a better looking car. The Z is a good looker cos its sleek and looks like a sports car should be, the skylark is a good looker because it looks mean and has massive road presence. The reason we dont have massive power Z's in TOTB is that nobody has invested that sort money into them except Mac who hasnt finished it yet, you gotta remember some of those skylines in TOTB stand the owners 100K+. The guy who is prepared to spend the most cash is usually going to win whether he drives a skyline, 300 or even Tims MR2 :D

I love all of the Nissan performance cars and we certainly shouldnt be squabbling amongst ourselves especially with the Toyota buffoons lurking around every corner :D

Paul

if you think the arse has dropped out of z's

then think yourself lucky you don't own an mr2

we recently sold one and lost good cash on it, but was glad to see the back of it, yep it was nippy and would kill the z round bends/town etc

but it was the most uncomfortable car ive EVEN driven, you know when you say to your kids go to the bog before we go out, this car you were dying to have one after you had been out in it, any loose fillings and you were knackered :(

specs

MINT RECARO SEATS,

MOMO RACE WHEEL,

TURBO TIMER,

SONY MINI DISC,

CUSCO FULLY ADJUSTABLE RACE SUSPENSION,

LOWERED,

SINGLE EXIT STAINLESS BIG BORE EXHAUST,

AFTERMARKET WHEELS AND HT LEADS,

HEAVY DUTY RACE CLUTCH ,DE-LIMITED TO MAX SPEED,CHIPPED TO MPH TOP END 160 MPH....(allegedly)

so driven one, been there and not impressed

fair play to those that have got/want but deffo not for me

I can say that the only angle i really love the looks of my Skyline is from the front, it just looks wide and with the open mouth bumper, as Paul said, looks mean with massive presence. The Z is an awsome sports car and i can`t deny that, i had one for 4 years.

When it comes time to move on you would be daft not to consider a Skyline, you can`t deny that!

But where do you go from there?

Personally i will be going a completely different route once i`ve had enough. Next on my list is an X5 or new Range Rover. Before you start taking the piss remember i am getting on a bit now and the Mrs wants kids!!

don't worry m8 you'll get your 2nd wind lol, my kids have just started driving themselves, one has just passed his test, so started with fast cars went to sensible (ish) cars, now back to whatever takes me fancy

and leave the missus to drive the car big enough for ferrying people round,

though i think she is in her 2nd childhood lol, as she wanted the z convertible

from ebay, i keep telling her to act her age not her shoe size
