New user, help.... already crashed after 23 hours of purchase

Hi, just got a 91 300zx friday night 8 pm, crashed saturday 7 pm... not bad going by all accounts specially when the telegraph pole went down....

However need a silver front drivers wing in mint condition... anyone got any ideas for cheap ones. Also need door brackets and a good set of fog lamps and a seat belt pulley thing, whole seat belt will be fine, but need the puller bit... not too technical im afriad so apologies on the descriptions..

Also need some advise on where to get some nice alloys for a silver z, 18 inch??

Thanks

Sean

Good going mate!!!

Try AndyZ in the traders section for second hand parts.

Wouldnt bother with the 18's yet mate, sounds like you need some practice in the car first.

Out standing effort matey.

Jesus. How the hell did you do that??

I'm amazed at how people jump straight in a new car and thrash it, I'm particulary careful when purchasing a 300bhp rear wheel drive car.......

Yeah, tell me about it. being a prat round a roundabout 2nd gear back end out which was lovely then had to go down the junction i wanted. Slightly changed direction and didnt realise the car would grip so quick, straight off the road span it 360 and hit the telegraph pole. so lucky it only did the wing, an inch either side and it would of taken out steering/wheel one side or eaten into the rest of the bodywork and probably bent the chassis the other side.... never mind, gonna learn the hard way i guess. never a good idea to chuck a 25 year old into a car like this, what was the insurance company thinking!!!

Cheers for the advise lads

Sean

Oh well,we all live n learn, just when you get it sorted take it easy for gods sake, dont want to read about it in the obituarys,Andy Z should be able to get you most parts,or look around local srappers, you may find one you can source from.

Tony

don't bother with the wheels, might be worth getting traction control

but bloody good effort

Age isn't a factor, I am 22 and had my zed since i was 20 and have never lost control of the back end. (had it out on a few occasions)

Just take it easy mate, these cars are powerful and will bite you if you dont respect that.

good luck getting it sorted

Nice one !!

Still, glad you are ok though. The car can be fixed, your body not necessarily so

Welcome to the forum, by the way. You should find all the help you need here....

The best investment, before wheels etc is £20 for a subscription. You will save way more than that with the help, advice and discounts from traders.

Good luck, mate!

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I've learnt by my mistakes, the worst arse end happy car I had was an E30 bmw

once the back come out there was no way of getting it back I ended up launching it off a central reservation trying to drift it round a round about!

The 300 handles well in a drift as soon as you shut off it cuts back in instantly, where as the beemer decided it wanted to play in the other dirrection

yep i had a e36 bmw the back end is a sod in them,u can go round mc donalds carpark at 10mph and the backend would shoot out fookin thing, like u said the z is a bit more forgivable if you respect her! :) hope u get your lady back on the road soon and practice on a track till u master the old backend

yep, go easy- first thing my mate said when I bought a zed was "oh no- you've bought a widow maker!"

Dont forget to put the telegraph pole back up lol, you were lucky mate - have you got shite tyres on the back?

Take it you're an R1 rider ? so its not like you're not used to power!

Yeah, got an R1 99 model so power is not unknown to me, however never driven a rear wheel car (never mind a twin turbo 3 litre) and was being a cocky twat. Wont be power sliding around for quite a while, still learnt me lesson and shouldnt have to go through that again!!

If i subscribe does it open up me being able to private message people etc?? What other benefits does membership give?

me too, am 20 :D

me too, am 20 :D

me too,

anyway Sean, subscribing would maybe be quite handy for you just now, you should be able to get the bits you need to sort your car for a little cheaper.

Glad to hear you're okay. Re the subscription, it's the best investment I've made since owning a 300. More than saved it with the traders' purchases and the fountain of knowledge from the other subscribers.

It's also a bonus to be asked by the treasurer ( a young lady ) whether you'd like it "internal or external". Again something you'll have to wait until your a member to experience. :D :D :D

Simon.

You also beat my son's record of four days!! :x:

im guilty of that. not crashed (yet) but as soon as i got the car and started playing and the back end came out i respected the 300 a lot more from then on!!!

Get sum old tyres and hang em round like a tug boat that,ll sort u mate

I spent a year in mine with the ass popping out all the time, turned out to be the hicas. But it did teach me the art of reactions and the art of respect.

Beats my record of crunching a car, did a suzuki swift in 3 days. mind you I was trying to avoid a tyre that fell of a trailer. was doing about 70 and suddenlt this whell decides it wants to decapitate me. Dropped a gear and headed for a gap and got hit in the ass by the car behind who panicked. did a 360 and hit a tree. Hurt like hell
