Fog light wiring advice please...

Hi all

I've fitted US spec front fogs to my UK car, no probs there. I've got the relay with wiring instructions and a nice small switch.....

The problem I have is finding a way of running the switch wire inside the car from the engine compartment....

Where do you start as there are very few places that cables go through the bulkhead and they are damn hard to get to?

Also where's the best place to locate the switch?

I got fed-up looking yesterday so I bought a remote control system for £30  - no need to cut/drill/route etc :o But I could return this if I can use the relay kit.

Thanks

run the wiring through the hole for the bonnet cable, drop the o/s/f inner wing liner down & find a hole into the engine bay!! :)

i mounted my switch on top of the pod on the right of the dash

Paul's right but you can do this without removing the wheel arch liner...

Straighten out a wire coat hanger and tape your wires to the end of it. Then, from the inside of the car, poke it gently through the bonnet release cable grommet. Try to angle it up slightly (or bend the hanger) and it should appear in the engine bay. Be careful not to scratch the paintwork inside the engine bay - maybe tape around the sharp point just to be safe...

Managed to feed my gauge senders through the firewall this way...
