you might all think i'm dumb but what is Propane and CO2, all this talk about it makes it sounds good but this is the first i've heard of it.

 

i understand how Nos works but never heard of the other two being used is it an alternative to Nos or a different kind of system, I think they should of tought this at school. :D

C02 because it is pressurised, if sprayed on or around your intercooler will cool it substantially. (remember the fire extinguisher, where it says dont hold the black plastic horn? cos it will freeze your fingers off ?) cooler charge = denser charge= more air/ oygen in charge.

 

Never heard of propane being used, tho if it is under pressure will do the same thing, but is highly flammable and I wouldnt want if being sprayed anywhere near my engine, but i am funny like that

Ive heard they use it to purge down the exhaust system to give the coned flame like you see on (cough) fast and furious :)

You use the co2 spray on youre intercooler, (only on turbo!!) this makes the air very very cold into the engine = more dense = more fuel etc some cars get 50+ hp not sure about other things? :)

Propane - C2H6 but you got the ratio of Carbon to Hydrogen correct :)

Propane is actually C3H8 and is basically LPG same sort of stuff as you find in a gas lighter (along with butane C4H10).

 

CH4 - Methane

C2H6 - Ethane

C3H8 - Propane

C4H10 - Butane

Etc.

 

Of no real use in terms of power gains. Only use of CO2 is as people have mentioned to cool the intercooler - not particularly friendly to the environment though!
