I had a go at it, works okay but I think one of those dremmel things would work great!

I will be doing this once they have completed my drop kerb as my new drive is finished!! ;)

I'll let you know how I get on......

Just need to add the Smithy 'above headlight bling' and the plenum cover strip....

Yeah! Has anyone else had any success with Dremel/mire brushing? Changing the subject slightly I saw someone on here had painted the front timing covers. Are these a PITA to get off? What paint would you use?

If you cant tune it just bling it!

Well, I painted mine with black hammerite when the all the four hoses were off......got most of it covered and when the hoses are back on you can't see the bits you couldn't manage to reach. Looks okay and brighten's it up a bit compared to the dull plastic I think.

I'm waiting for the clear ones to become available then I'll have one of those.... ;)

I also painted the fan shroud, balance bar, various bolt heads, brake fluid lid, power steering pot (will do this again as I didn't clean it properly first! :( and the plenum cover which will look great with Smithy's shiny strip!! :D

I must admit once I started I found it hard to stop, I kept spotting stuff to 'try' with hammerite....LOL

I'm sure hammerite do loads of different colours if that takes your fancy, I did it as an 'experiment' really but I like it, so that's what counts....;)

Andy how did you get the chrome look as the original finish is very bumpy. Did you paint it

Nah, sanding disk on an angle grinder with 180 down to 320 grit paper then a polishing buff....

I think that Jock used the Plastikote Red Enamel paint from Halfords. Obviously the cover needs to be removed as this is a spray job..

Just left it - I don't like the way laquer peels after a while... Leaving it allows you to go over it with some autosol once in a while and keep the sheen ;)
