Ok heres one garunteed to get the comments flying...

Why should I keep my 300ZX over a Mitsubishi GTO TwinTurbo? (some CONSTRUCTIVE comments would be useful as well as the usual patriotic slanging for laughs !!)

Cheers guys & in the words of ref Mills Lane... LETS GET IT ON!!!

£1500 bills are cheap on a 300 are'nt they?

yeah right-oh like the "cheap repair" job of doing anything to the turbos on the ZX'x, c'mon boys be realistic! Both cars are cheaper alternatives to the rich-boys toys BUT the repair bills ON BOTH are gonna be heftier than ya avarage euro-box!

One minus on the GTO score.... TRUST ME the forums are not NEARLY as well followed as the Zeds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LMAO! I would shove an RS up me ass if it'd fit!!! LMAO!!! I love em!!!

Love me Zed to bits, but I just have athing for the 200sx S13 and the Escort RS Turbo, feck knows why but I do!!!!

Each to their own.........

Oh, £1500 bill on a zed is reasonable, just ask anyone and you HAVE bin very lucky, very very lucky.........or just got a Zed thats been really well taken care of!

OK, I'll give a serious reply

Firstly as Herman says, drive both and makes your choice.......

I thought of the TT gto before buying my ZX, until I drove one :nono:

They weigh over 1/4 of a tonne more than the ZX and it shows, check out WhatCar and AutoCar road test results 0-60 in close to a ZX (ZX 0.4 faster) but 0-100 the ZX is 2 seconds in front.

The GTO suffers from too much turbo lag and the mid-range performance is disapointing (something all testers/journalists agree on). I rate overtaking ability over standing starts significantly - much safer for passing slow traffic on A/B roads. All the GTO tts I drove were crap in this area, whereas the ZX is really good there. I had the old Supra single turbo before my ZX and that was faster than the GTO despite being 30+bhp down in comparison.

GTO is a good looker, though and the 4WD grip is excellent. However even by fitting good tyres you can transform the grip and handling of the ZX...... ;)

The gearbox probs with the GTO IIRC related to the old 5 speeder, the new shape 6 speeder didn't suffer, I believe, and was a better car to boot. (and more expensive....) However Evo Mag, Jezza Clarkson and Tiff Needel rate the ZX as one of the best drivers cars ever.........no mention of the GTO, though

At the end of the day it's all down to your personal opinion as many GTO owners will give as many arguements against the ZX... :slap:

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

as plenty have said its all down to personal preference

BUT if you were really interested in our opinions, you would have asked these questions BEFORE you bought a gto, its a bit like asking a tony blair what he thinks of the tories,

i did have thoughts of a gto BEFORE i bought the zx, and weighed up all

the factors, most important for me, was the smile factor, and the zx certainly gives me that

PLUS if your a bit dyslexic people may think you own a FTO

now SOD THAT lol

If you have not already tried one out, I would check the seating position out. GSCarter who is a member on here was going to buy a GTO till he had a go in my Z. He know before he got out of 1st gear that the Z was for him.

Not saying this applies to all tall people but he is about 6'2" and said that he was not happy with the way the interior was around him.

Only way to know is to have a go in both and see which one you prefer.

Yeah guys I hear ya. Ive CERTAINLY loved my zed and do believe for an auto its the best box around, and ive had BMW & Merc autos! I do miss driving the damn box myself though.

Ive had both and nearly all my mates who are into Jap motors rate the ZED as the more desirable car. Prob is I sold my GTO to fund a house and wasnt really ready to get rid of it!. Who knows I may keep both IF I can sort the insurance out. The importing of it myself CERTAINLY makes that possible with the massive saving!!

By the way newbie... Ok IF and ONLY if... I had to have a blue badge... I do have a soft spot for the series one.

SORRY GUYS, medication on the way lol

I hear ya mate, the series one is a very nice car indeed, now a classic I believe and is a right little pocket rocket.

I diddnt mean any offence, and I aint no millionaire, and a £1500 is alot but I expect that now. The Zed owes me £13K if I was gonna sell it, I'd get no-where near that but I love it to bits, I have only done 2000miles init on 7K's worth of repair bills, not good hey?!!?

SSShhh#########t! thats alot of dollars to fork on repairs. I guess Ive been really lucky with mine, its a good one and Ive had NO REPAIRS needed so far. Replaced the rear tyres and had it serviced and its been fantastic. If I decide to sell, whoever gets her will get a well looked after motor.

Whats been the most expensice repair on yours?? Let me guess... turbos?

LMAO! I would shove an RS up me ass if it'd fit!!! LMAO!!! I love em!!!

Yep, s13's are the most underrated car about, pounds for performance

they're unbeatable!

On the subject of sticking cars up your arse, has anybody seen

''Jackass the movie''? :x:

Yes and they are sick individuals who need alot of help ha ha

At least they practiced safe driving and wrapped a rubber round the car!!!

LMAO

So nyone got any more comments about the Mitsubishi GTO against the TT Zx??? Cant believe thats all you lot have got to say!

Yeah teh turbos were the most expensive.

Went to Option motorsport and also had a new rad and boost gauge fitted.

Total bill was just under £4000............I nearly died! Now that a f*****g bill!!!!! Its a new f*****g car!!! If I had another one of them, I would have to break it!!!!

I test drove a new 3000GT before buying my second Zed. Didn't like it.. Headroom was restrictive for me and the ride wasn't as much fun. Wasn't as much of a "driver's car" as the Zed.

No regrets..

I reckon mine felt HUGE when I was driving it (lol it IS huge duh!) It certainly liveled up higher in the rev range and the 4wd outhandled pretty much anything.

My Zed feels incredibly quick pulling, when excellerating say for example on a motorway where you dont have to ease off so quickly, it feels like it will NEVER stop pulling!

Not fussed about the alloys by the way, ALWAYS replace with rude ones. BTW guys try this cool site out.. Ive found it excellent for price & availability and it even filters out wheels not fitting your car!

They do wheels for GTO's Too!! ha ha

think everyone's covered everything, except the boring subject - heritage. The 300ZX is one of a line of 240, 260, 280, etc. (yawn - end there!) definately glad I chose my Z over a GTO, although I do like the 'vents' at the rear wheels. Get the bodyshop on the phone... :)

Interesting 'site, Asroma.

But I would think twice before buying wheels from any supplier that lists 7X17 wheels as fitments for a ZX. They wouldn't clear the calipers?? :nono:

Stock wheels are 7.5 wide (8.5 at rears on a UK car). When I was looking for wheels no supplier suggested run-of-the-mill brands as the fitment is not available. Anyone here will tell you only a few manufacturers make wheels for the ZX, same for Supra RX7 and probably GTO.....

lmao

Which way are you leaning towards Dan??!! Crystal aint what it used to be!

By the way how the #~*$ do you paste pics on your replies? Ive been tryin for ages

Think I should delve into unknown territory, the GTO forum and ask the question in reverse... see what they think of our ZEDs ha ha

Someone I know bought a GTO Twin Tub, soon after he said that I had the better car!

I know one thing, the interior in the Zed looks way better than any of the other competitors interiors.
