Two questions about the hose in my left hand (oo er), which was previously joined to a small pipe underneath the middle pipe on the right... (the top pipe is coolant, obviously)

 

1) It runs toward the back of the engine and disappears... by having a good nosey I can just see it joins some sort of t-piece. Is there ANY chance I'll be able to change this with the engine in the car and without a ramp?

 

2) Were the boost jets meant to be in this line? Because they were.

 

Incidentally, the "adjustable" boost jets I inherited aren't rocket science - they seem to work like a domestic water tap!

 

There's a cylinder with a hole in the bottom and a screw-in piece that leaves more or less of a gap above the hole... that's it.

yup, thats how all bleed valves work, they just "bleed" some of the pressure going to the wastegates to atmosphere

You can change that quite easily. You may have to remove the hard pipe going down to the turbo but that's all.

Ta Mike, I spotted that hard pipe and it looked like it might be easy to whip off and give me a way in, but thought I'd ask someone who'd BTDT... Struggled to get some of the original fuel lines off too, but think I'm just about there now.

They take boosted air to and from the intercoolers. That's why there's four. If you look carefully, you'll actually find there's six hoses there! The two underneath take measured air under vacuum to the turbo compressor inlets. The air then comes forward from the turbo compressor outlet to the intercooler. Then back to the throttles after the intercoolers.

Ta Mike, makes sense, couldn't relate it to the diagram from the service manual!
