The engine will be pulled out tomorrow. Where is best to attach the sling. Does any one have any pics of where to put it?

Use longer bolts in the stock boost solenoid bracket where it attaches to the plenum - rear bolt on each one....

Yep, that's what I did.

Has anyone ever located the positions mentioned in the workshop manual. I looked for them when the engine was out just out of interest. Couldn't find anything that looked remotely like the pictures in the manual though.

These pics don't actually show the bolt holes, but you should be able to work it out. Two bolts for each sling, all of them in the cylinderhead.

That's why I couldn't find them. I didn't realise you needed such fancy slingers! Nissan supplied I presume?

They are genuine nissan parts, and surprisingly cheap too:

1000540P10 - slinger engine - £7.36

1000630p10 - slinger engine - £8.80

Si.

WillyEd, nice pics! I was just going to make me some slingers like they show in the manual, but they look a lot more involved in real life LOL

I wish i'd seen this earlier because I'd have ordered some off Mike Feeney at the same time as the crank bearings.

We just used rope slung around the plenum and bottom pulley , worked fine
