I'm about to respray my 300ZX. I want to spray it purple, and I know that some (very rare) 300ZX's came out the factory in purple. Does anyone know the paint code for the purple 300ZX's, and even better, does anyone have any photos of the standard Nissan purple. Please email me some pics if you have some (geewhizz@onetel.net.uk)

To give you an idea of how few came out the factory purple, I have seen approx 500 Z's, of which two were the Nissan purple.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

Im spraying my Z purple.

It may be the same purple as the Skyline line was as the purple was released for the Z the same time the R33 came out with the purple

Im spraying my Z purple too. Its a Nissan purple but I dont know if it is the one used on a Z

Might be of help..? my old mans Z in early 90's was purple and think they called it midnight purple.....might be worth getting intouch with Nissan then selves...:)

Ask on the Skyline forum as it is a more comon colour. There are 3 midnight purples.

Midnight purple. Mmmmm, that sounds like the colour I'm on about. The ones I saw were early 90's examples. Thanks

Andy

colorcode is LP2

Mine is purple as standard. It's a 1999 japanese car.

It's very dark metallic and was sold to me as 'aubergiene'!

Yes, the paint code is LP2

just to add to that as well. midnight purple is the name. nissan started using it in 1996. mine (1990) was resprayed in japan. looks almost black from a distance.(see pic in my rides) waitin for a dry bright day to take pic to show off colour in true glory cos it looks special with sun on it.

Not original paint then.

"From September '94 - LP2 Purple Pearl"

Just to be a bit different, why not try Rover Amethyst?

Seen a few MGFs in that colour, it's a bit girly-hairdresser on the MGF (but the MG is a poncy car  ) but it could look good on a Zed

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

LP2 it is for me !!!!!

Thanks for your help everyone.

Andy

I got a few samples of paint when deciding colours. I personally think I found a better colour than the LP2.

Here is a pic of the purple. The picture does not do it justice as digital cameras are not good at capturing some colours.
