Mobil 1 here

every 6000 miles and only a nissan filter due to the fact that somone I know had a patern filter on a BMW that split while driving and killed the engine.

Cheers

Ady

Beemers use paper filters though which could be more prone to splitting compared to our steel ones.

However, I _only_ use OEM ones, which are actually cheapers then the patent ones in Halfords :)

Hi,

Talking to a nissan mechanic they use the same Nissan filter for Micras etc, so I don't think the Nissan filter is anything special. Although it is hard to wander through the information and get anything meaningful out of oil filter specification.

It isn't worth bodging something like oil, lets think about it we have a supercar that cost 35k in 1990 and we are debating spending £25-30 on an oil and filter change!

Agree 100% with you Mark!for all wanting to save money, why not wash out your old oil filter and use this http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp;jsessionid=ETCVTYM5SO323CJO2C4CIIQ?ts=78484&id=41692 :D;)

I agree on the oil point, (cos that stuff flows around your engine),but not so convinced on the filters etc. I reckon that the only different thing about a nissan filter is the box!!

Next we'll be saying dont fit smithy hard pipes, as theyre not the normal nissan rubber ones FFS!

Example, when i bought my wheel bearing it was in an ADL blueprint box, but inside it was all sealed up in a nissan bag, with nissan stickers and nissan part no's, not that it made alot of difference it only lasted 500 miles and it was knackered again!

Hey I like the look of the polisher on that page. Might be tempted.

£14.99 a bargain! 0169_l.jpg
