About to order some Goodyear Eagle F1s for my Z

(235/45zr17 front, 255/40zr17 rear)

Before I do, are there any other brands I should consider?

I'm only interested in grip (i.e. staying alive in the wet), not wear.

A little sideways incident in the rain yesterday told me it was time to take the utter sh1te off the rear wheels once and for all...

For me you cant get better than bridgestone S02 or S03.

Goodyear F1's are great, thats what i have got. They grip well weither it's wet or dry.

Other tyre's i reccomend are-

Goodyear GSD's

Toyo Proxes

Brigdestone s0-3's

All good tyre's but best for wet i'd say F1's

Rich :D

Yeah Toyo Proxes - excell,

Geoff.

Proxies. :)

Have a look here though before you buy...

235/45/17...

Toyo 81,90 delivered.

Goodyear 110,20 delivered

255/40/17

Toyo 97,00 delivered.

Goodyear 110,60 delivered

I have Avon ZZ1's, and I'm crapping it when they go on my zx lol, they are shit in the wet!

Avon ZZ1's are superb drift tyres though. :D

Shite otherwise.

Are the HANKOOK 405 VENTUS PLUS tyres from luke any good?

I doubt it. Hankooks are pretty poor.

here's a few reviews.

Can't go wrong with Toyo/F1/S-03/S-02 perhaps Yoko AVS Sport

The rest aren't as good, hankook, nankang, falken...

BF Goodrich Profiler G's and Falken FK-451's are an ok budget performance tyre but nothing special.

I had falken on my car and for the price they are not bad. They are the same price a Kuhmo and where 10 times better. They are the best of the budget tyres.

LOL Jezz my car had S02s fitted when I bought it, nothing special at all infact crap!I fit nothing else but BF Goodrich now.was getting 10k out the rears too;)

Got my Continentals from mytyres on front & rear

They have never let go in wet conditions

Good price too. I think most tyres are ok, there are other factors to consider.

Keep in mind that you have loads of power to deliver with the Z! Use or abuse. Tyres have thier limits too abit like drivers!

Would not buy economy tyres though.

Dont get me started on the Goodrich. I think many people know what I think of them ;)

Got avon ZZ1's on mine (rear), 255/40/17, ok in the dry,

pretty shite in the wet though, got yokohama's on the front

235/45/17, they were already on it when it was shipped over,

balding inside now. Gonna go 4 falkens all round (eventually).

Been told by a guy in the trade that avons r shite, reckons

falken's best value 4 money.

avons r shite

Correct!!!

They really are bad.

Dont get me started on your veiws either LOL.

From my experience (Supra, now Zed), Goodyear eagle GDS3's are the best ever.

Other than that, Michelin pilot sports (but they are pricey)

Avons are sh1te

BF goodrich were very good in dry & wet, but wore out too quickly

Continentals good in the dry, lousy in the wet

Bridgestones very good all round too

Pirrelli are expensive rubbish. Too noisy and car slid too much in the wet

The Goodyears are just about the best - never once lost grip in the wet. They weren;t named best performance tyre in the world by Evo mag for nothing ;)

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

hi all

i've got pirelli p-zero asimmetrico front and rear

these are the best tyres i've ever had they last well

in the dry you cannot wheel spin(even when dumpping the clutch at high revs)

and in the wet you can just get a chirup into second gear but no sliding round bends

if there good enough for porsche 911 turbo there good enough for a zxtt

and at only £89 225/50 z16

£93 245/45 z16

it would be rude not to!!!!

p.s i've tried falkens, toyos, khumos, avons, most of the cheaper tyres (my mate runs a tyre garage!)they're just not good enough even for a stock 300 let alone a tuned one

but between the more expensive mich's,pirelli's,bridgestones, i don't think you'll notice any difference. Not on these roads anyway on a track maybe?

While we're on the subject, what is the correct profile of a zed tyre, at the moment ive got 8 zed wheels with profiles ranging from 40 to about 65!!!

As im about to buy some F1's I might aswell get the right size!!!

Also can you go an extra 10mm wider on the back and get away with it or is it best to stick to 225's all round on stock J spec rims?

hi b19rks

j-spec tryes should be 225/50 x16 allround

the 235 tryes will fit but your speedo will read slower if you keep 50 profile and it might upset the handling (bit sqidgy on back end) you might be better buying uk rear rims and running 245/45 x 16
