As suggested in another post - Skyline type rear lights for the ZX would look great. However, the Skyline light measures 6" in diameter and the rear light panel of the ZX is only 6" so it means that the whole rear panel would have to be modified to accomodate the Skyline light.

So here are the issues:

1. How many people are up for a Skyline type rear light panel?

2. Is there any expertise within the Forum to come up with a proto-type or a contact who could do the same?

3. Could someone come up with a computorised vision of the rear of the ZX?

If there was a large demand for this rear end - then maybe we could convince Luke from the Z Centre to look into it.

But there's another company I know of called Body Torque - maybe they can help.

So guys and gals - let's see who interested!

Geoff.

I could be tempted away from my purist stance...

Sounds like it could be good, need to see them first tho

WELL only 3 noting any interest!!!

Geoff.

Oi, Geoff, don't forget me, matey!

I've been on about this for months now and I'm not going to miss out on a group buy - if we could only find someone to buy from!!!

and I don't have a suitable 300 shot to doctor, but for those out there wondering what all the fuss is about - these are what we want!!!

Hi Geoff

Sorry for the slow response but I got a bit dejected months ago trying to find a set of lights or panel that I liked. I have seen the strosek panel and the uk copy .......Not bad, I have only seen pics of the altezza lights but I would have to see them in the flesh to make a real judgement. I know what I am looking for but have yet to see it.

In my head it is something that makes the car look WOW from the back, I am not bothered about wide arse kits etc but I must say I always reverse park the car with the back end hidden as the front looks soooooo much better.

Ok this is just IMO

cheers

Ady

I totally agree with you Ady. The rear lights + rear end isn't great. Although with my Supra style spoiler it does improve it.

Those Altttzz whatever look quite good but the problem is that they are American style with red indicators - so no good.

Lets hope we can come up with some expertise here to have some Skyline type lights!

Thanks for your response.

So looks like 5 are interested!!!

Geoff.

Here's the Altezza so called Skyline style rear lights:

How about this?

How about this?

Nigel that's brilliant!!! That is defintely the look we want!!!

I've Emailed Body Torque if they are interested - waiting to hear.

Thanks,

Geoff.

How about this?

Thank God. I thought I was the only one here who didnt like them.

Maybe you also need to change the center panel and have the reverse lights as smaller circles to continue the flow of the skyline lights, saying that I still wouldn't change them for my '99's :)

Must admit, they dont do anything for me neither,

u guys dont like the standard round lights then?

I have to agree that it's still not perfect. I think we need a fully blacklight central panel if possible and I'm wondering if the two lights need to be the same size (like the current round light kits only bigger.

I guess I need to play around in photoshop a bit more, but I think the idea of larger diameter round rears is where it is at!

Nigel - thanks for your art work on the rear. You can play around with the positioning of the two lights on each side. The lights could possibly include the reverse lights etc. so the middle panel could be changed as well. Maybe with the Z badge in the middle?

Geoff.

Thought about this last year when I met up with Andy Z. He was stripping a Skyline and the rear lights caught my eye. I have the PB quad Fiat conversion a measured the skyline lights against mine. The only way I could see them fitting was to cut into steel lip at the bottom of the original light clusters. This put me off some as I had just had the car painted. I would be very interested to see if any one succesfully fits them. Andy Stokes might still have a set or two give him a call

Interesting....

I was Blasting down to Oxford last night (in my wife's Laguna estate!) when I saw a really cool rear light cluster up a head and thought - that would look nice on the back of a zed...

and when I cought it up, it was another bloody SKYLINE!

it just has to be done!

How about using the clear lens of the Altezzas with an orange bulb for the indicators and painting the centre panel reversing lights round (well into 2 semi circles actually) like in this attachment. Sorry it's a bit crude but I ain't no artist :o

how bout somin like this fellas? :)

not brilliant photoshop manipulations but it looks better?

i was contemplating getting this done a little while ago...
