hi all

just been out for a play came across a gsx-r600+cbr600

while pratting about ended up on a private test track(yeh right)

going slighly down hill hit 175mph it stutted dropped to 170mph then picked up to 175mph and stutted 170 ,175 it kept doing this till i lifted at which point the bikes were well back as we came to an island stopped for traffic the bikes came up said he was doing 165mph and i was leaving them

it was revving to about 6400rpm-6500rpm in 5th,the car is a

standard uk tt except it's running 11psi boost and a scorpion exhaust still has cats

so was this the speed limiter at 155mph and my speedo's 20mph out

i don't know just asking

---cheers---

Hi Niel

I have read that all Zds were tested out of the factory up to full speed on a rolling road and some achieved 165 mph even after restriction but they just let them go out, so maybe you have one of those! I have yet to get mine over 145 due to lack of open road , whoops I mean autobahn.

Cheers

Ady

Over the last four weeks my speedo has been 100% accurate. It has been reading 0mph and I have definately been going exactly 0mph.

Mines an auto but every 40mph in overdrive = 1500rpm

so @ 6400 - 6500 would be 171 - 173.

It fits if 5th is same ratio.

Mine is out about 6mph according to the Techtom, which is within about 1mph according to my GPS.

mines a tt and ive hit just over 160 before, only once though.

i got tunnel vision.....

mine only works when it wants to and when it does it wont read rite.

Mines a j-spec tt auto, got aftermarket ''z-sport'' speedo,

(300kmh), came over with it already on.

Have had it up to 250km's, which translates to approx 155mph,

think it hit the rev limiter, seemed to just stop accelerating!

Couldn't see the rev counter 'cos it was shaking so much,

or was that me shaking!

Pleased with that anyway, plenty fast enough!

think mines out 2 went to santapod, went past 1/4mile post reading 110mph on the speedo, the read out bord said 101mph

Hi all

I believe from road tests conducted by Autocar/what car etc when the Zed was new that the stock uk speedo was accurate. The tests showed rpm at true 70mph and speedo reading at true mph. Most other cars (read fords, vauxhalls etc - Calibra Turbo reads 78 on speedo at true 70.) can be way out yet Nissans, Toyotas etc are generally accurate. IIRC the 300zx read 70 at 70, it was only 1 or 2 mph out at over 100 too

However 10+ years on the road could lead to inaccuracies today, though. I would say unless they have been calibrated (particularly when imports changed to mph from kph) then your speedo would probably over-state speed towards the high end. Say when you are doing over 100, the higher the speed the more the overstatement

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

A CBR600 and GSX-R600 will do 155 true mph, max. Maybe less if they're older models.

I guess a CBR600RR or if the GSX-R is the latest model, they might squeeze up to 160 but that's on a runway with a professional tester.

Most people wuold struggle to top 150 genuine mph on the road on either.
