My first driving experience in the snow with the Z, and I almost got stuck in snow at the Asda car park. Even pulling away in second, no traction whatsoever, and we have less than an 1" of snow.

Maybe 2 50lb. sandbags in the boot, one over each wheel would help.

SRAAE, you fixed your pulling to the left yet?

Why? Do you think he needs to take his dad out of the boot?

Well I got iced out of mine tonight - took 4 litres of warm water to release the driver's door!, then about 6 mins to defrost the windscreen

Since replacing my heater matrix in November, I still hadn't connected the hoses back up. Until today!!! Went straight to the garage and asked them to do it asap! Now it's back, i'm in total bliss!! I'd forgotten what it felt like to have heat!!! Ended up turning it off 'cos i was getting TOO hot!!!! Anyway, once I'd defrosted my door and put the HOLD switch on the AUTO. Drove home fine in the sleet but we are still yet to have REAL snow so i am bracing myself for the trip to work in the morning!!

we,ve got it pretty bad in east yorkshire, really icey and thick snow, went to work and back today in the zed 50 mile round trip throught own and country, what a laugh, i just could'nt stop doing huge powerslides round every corner! controled of course.

Hi got home safe...........in 3 hours but normally takes 30mins, roads like glass, lorry jack knived but no probs with the Z, put it in second and off it went like a dog wagging its tail. No not really, I was actually supprised after some of the things I have read on here. The ABS works a treat and even turned it round on the drive using the power to force the back end out and park it on a slope facing down,, although its the ford KA tomorow...... don't wanna take any risks.

Sooooo they said WE ARE NOT GONNA GET CAUGHT OUT THIS TIME! (highways agency).

I have not seen the roads this bad where I am as long as I can remember, I think Ice skates would have been the best form of transport tonight.

I don't suppose there are any grit lorry drivers on here to let us know what went wrong are there, wrong kind of snow maybe?, came at the wrong time? came down all of a sudden, we were just overwhelmed. I wait to hear all the excuses.

Cheers

take care

ADy

Nooooo!

I left mine at home and took the Corsa today

Only an inch of snow when I left home, but you never know what it's going to be like at home time? :nono:

Glad I did, snowing heavily at 5pm and the A40 was dead slippery. I remember how difficult it was driving the Supra in snow last year, but the Zed has 50 extra horses galloping thru the rear wheels..........

If it's bad tomorrow, I'll get my boss to pick me up. He lives in my village and will pinch his wife's Honda CRV :D

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I can do slightly better just over 3 hours to do a 7min journey! Just total grid lock - and i almost ran out of fuel and i had to jump out of the car to take a pee behind a poorly screened bush!

Also took 3 people to push me out of car poark and I could not get on my drive way - had to leave car on the village green!!

Car was not great in the snow, just glad to get home in piece!! ;)

Alas no.

It is something quite major now. I get a bad clunk from the drivers wheel when it happens the wheel or wheel bearing is grinding or rubbing on something.

The car is off the road now for good untill its finished. I will get a better look when its half a foot in the air.

Took me 7 hours to get back from Luton today (in a rover 220 coupe) when i got home couldnt resist getting the Z out for a play, but true to form the fookin great thing would only get about 3 foot out of the garage before getting stuck on the drive!!!

I only live 1.5 mile away from work and slid everywhere on the way home last night. Its bloody hilly in sheffield. Was gonna risk driving in this morning but glad I didnt (having no rear tread really doesnt help matters ((Am after som enew wheels - if I dojnt get some this week Im gonna have to shell out for new tyres)). Walking to work this morning went ass over tit and cut my hand and grazed my knee - not nice.

Musta looked funny to all the passers by tho

Took me two hours to do 4 miles yesterday in the Saab got stuck four times and nearly gave up and walked home , cars were abandoned everywhere , took the mrs 12 hours to get home , she got home at 3am this morning FFS , I was under the impression we were ready for this snow fall , yea like fvck were we

Srrae, if the wheel bearing was making this noise I guess it would be breaking up, and then it would make a terrible noise. Look else where too. Luck.

I had, err, no problems, well not with getting to and from home anyway.

I'm feeling left out, I might go and abandon my car anyway :D

Fook me Ryan, how did you get up that hill out of the Valley?????

well there is a hill the same the other end of the valley which is where I got stuck last night , like I said nearly gave up and dumped the car , but managed it in the end ;)

I'm confused... I didn't struggle too much yesterday. Maybe the East was a lot worse? I was quite surprised though I've seen more chaos in better conditions in the past.

I drove home all the way from Poole to Bolton yesterday. I saw some blindingly stupid things happening on the motorway but I wasn't too delayed. (Sussex was pretty clear which helped... I knew I needed to get some miles on up the A34 :D )

It started snowing really hard just as I got onto the M40 and by ProDrive ish it was foglamp weather and 25mph (in 5th not 2nd ). The main problem I had was creating enough space to drive in, what with Passats driving a car length behind in snow too thick to see through, let alone drive on. I even moved onto the hard shoulder once or twice to let particularly bad offenders past - well, I say past, I was driving the same speed as the traffic, just 200 feet behind it. For some reason this apparently means it's compulsory to overtake and cover my windscreen in slush.

Had to help someone with an auto Lexus out of the services by sitting on his boot!

Cherwell was half-empty so I confess to a quick play with TCS switched off on my way out. :-)

Can't imagine what it would have been like driving a Z with an RPS clutch though... the word "impossible" springs to mind!

stuart, i had this similar noise, it was one of my new t-rod bolts coming loose?

Jim

Took my 300tt to the local industrial estate last night to see how it would perform in the snow, i returned home needing new back tyres after just an hour it was worth it tho
