hmmm my list isn't as impressive as the ones you lot can boast... but the insurance I've spent out on them cost more than the car's themselves in most cases.

Fiat Panda Convertable

(looked good in the Autotrader...but the reality was shocking) However... there was something about it which makes it a memorable one...had so much character...though not enough for a character like me...cause I sold it on a few days later. lol

Rover Metro Clubman

Awful car...only 4 gears.. expensive tyres.. no feeling of safety as it was built like a cardboad box - damn thing was jinxed !

Escort XR3i

Nice and agile compared to the metro... and handles nicely (so long as you inflate the tyres well)... though comes with a boy-racer image unless you give it some 'mature' styling. Light... and easy to manipulate... but rather dull interior.

Shogun Diesel (Off-road spec - big nobbly tyres, bull bar additions)

MAN ! This bad-boy was fantastic ! Got plenty of attention, was comfy...nice to drive and an enjoyable ride.

Wasn't worth the agony of the job which came with it though... so waved goodbye.

Galant Estate - not owned by me thankfully

Nothing good to say... cept maybe that t... ummm.... nope...absolutely nothing nice about it.

Test drove the updated Shogun (V6 Petrol)

About as much enjoyment as having dental work. Was 10k more than the off-road one...and yet the leather, walnut and leather interior and fancy dials just wasn't worth the expense. This one is the type that the company exec's and mother's on school/shopping runs opt for... not really a Shogun (as it'll never survive offroad stress)so more a status-car.

The Z

PHWOAR ! ! ! ! ! HUBBA HUBBA *growls*

Pleasure Vixenm, yet with elegance and style!

People ask..."When you put your foot down...is the excitement better than sex?"

I guess it depends on who the sex is with...

but in any case you lot will have to answer that one, cause I wouldn't know. confused.gif

lol

Drove the XR since, and it felt like a Dinky toy.

Also have 2 Van's.. Ford Transit and Mazda E2000 (or something like that).. but only use them for carrying.. as the task didn't go well with the z's interior. frown.gif

ok...that's me done biggrin.gif

Ah yes, great thread.

Hmm i might selectively miss out a couple;

in no order:

Escort 1.6 sport (grrrreat)

Crapri 1.3

Crapri Calypso

Capri RS 3.1 (sideways sir? oh yeah baby)

3 x Manta (1.8s later converted to 2.0GTE, idiot that i am) mad 2.0GTE and (technically a family-car) Exclusive - still garaged bless smile.gif

Renault 18 turbo (17 years old - great age to be introduced to the turbocharger smile.gif )

Peugeot flintstone 309 GTI (still got it - love it its a go cart man!!)

Carlton GSI3000 (the guy who owned the Lotus Cartlon: - didnt like it no?? I bloody loved the GSI - great fun and so well balanced)

Oh and some cheesy, bankrupcy on wheels thing called a Nismo Veilside 3000GT Twin Turban car. (in a rub-a-dub whats this button here do, oh dear it fried my pistons stylie)

Weird thing was I think i had more fun in the GSI coz it was totally unbreakable, the Zed makes me sweat just looking at it, but then so does Jenna Jameson.

Well mines a relatively short list - I like my cars when I've bought em!

One 1984 Metallic Gold Manta 2.0 GTE (later resprayed white coz I hated the colour!)

One 1987 White Manta 2.0 GTE (why not?)

One 1991 200sx 1.8 turbo - lovely car and would have one again.

One 1990 300zx TT - Permanent smile.

Thats it - so far!

LMAO! One thing is for sure!!! We all seem to have maintained the same level of utter sadness on four wheels throughout our lives.

Tim

;-)

Allegros...WTF were they all about??? No wonder Rover has struggled all these years when the best of Blightey was chucking them sodding things out! Leyland-Austin etc. one company that defo had to die! LOL!

Including bad ones (which is quite a large percentage of this list) :

Simca 1100 (weird rear engine, RWD rust bucket)

Datsun Cherry (slight improvement)

TR7 - thats better

Renault 5

XR3i - major engine problems with this, so

Capri 2.0

Dodge Colt (bought in New York State and sold in Texas for the same money)

Toyota Corolla (bought in Sydney, sold in Darwin)

Vauxhall Astra - back in the UK

VW Scirocco

Nissan 200 SX - modified, gorgeous

Nissan 300 ZX TT, SWB - not bad

Senna

Notice you owned a GSi3000 and were surprised I didn't like my Lotus. Don't for one minute think the Lotus is just a faster GSi. In my opinion they messed up a perfectly decent car by trying to out-do Ferrari at its own game.

The main reason I didn't like it was it cost me £20,000 in repair bills over two years! Everything for it cost a fortune and took months to arrive. Eg. a coil pack £1,800; rear diff £3,000; radiator £800 and a five month wait. The thing was off the road more than it was on it.

If anyone was over thinking of buying one of these cars don't bother. They might be mind-numbingly fast in a straight line (my alleged-400bhp 300ZX couldn't come close to it) but they drive themselves round corners... no fun whatsoever. Loads of understeer and no oversteer.

Eventually got rid of this car a few months back at a net loss of £34,000! Wasn't very happy!

I'm sticking to my 300ZX from now on.

Mike
