i was just interested to know what sort of numbers would be up for a big cruise to be recognised in max!

i could make a few calls and see whether they would be interested?

let me know! cheers

max power is the *****x.....always read it. it shows what can be done to make everyday shitter cars top notch i know a few nova's corsa's etc that would show a good few z's a clean pair of heels....and most of the spotty oiks you refer to in there are damm good friends to have and know once you have met them. max recently has tended to become a bit commercial though but its still a good laugh if you enjoy cruising and weekend piss ups. the max power live after partys are some of the best do's ive ever had......as my m8 crazy kayle sez ' oi copper cruisin aint a crime' and i cant wait to get back into cruising and the doughnut arena next year

Does your mum know you read these forums tooley??

You would say that …. You are a porn minster and a beer monster :D :D ;)

OK 'm a knob! But the magazine is about cars! If it had a Z feature you would buy it!

All these spotty saxo boys everyone keeps harking on about was you lot so many years ago!

Do I buy it? NO. But if it had a car feature I was interested about I would buy it.

as my m8 crazy kayle sez ' oi copper cruisin aint a crime'

You have "m8" who "sez" that and calls themself "crazy"....?? ??

Worrying......:(

Gosh, we are all a bit touchy about our image aren't we!

Not sure what you're all so worried about to be honest, but I was wondering...

what won, pink or brown?

I have been buying max power for along time, the first one i have is from 1996 sometime. And im only 16, nearly 17:D .

OK, i have also noticed it is becomming more commercial and it is alot like a cheap chomp off mag, but if i hadnt have read max power i would probably not have searched for places like this. We all start somewhere, also i dont think an 18 year old will be able to afford a Zed, so we all have to start somewhere and work our ways up. Yes alot those spotty boy racers who push everyones premiums up by doing 100 in a 30 limit then crashing into a lamp post are idiots and should not be allowed to drive, but dont forget although you were probably not a spotty boy racer i bet you started off in a small cheap car and did little mods to it.

Just my two pence worth.:)

And there we have the difference...

...I'm 35, at your age I was reading Street Machine and Classic American. I guess the bottom line is that you outgrow some magazines.

Tim :D

Yep ,,i use to read street machine and other hot rod mags to ,,come to think of it,,, they had women in them as well ,, i used to look forward to looking at them ,,,as well as the cars,,,,uhm...

Hey look guyz,, the kids right we have to start some where , and we have a choice what mag we read ,,,,money side of things always interfears ,,,and so it dictates what makes a magazine sell ,,,,i bet there be women in jap performance before long just to keep the figures up,,but at the moment its a respecticle mag to feature your car with the ocasional women in it at shows etc ,,nice, but i think the "Z" is a bit out of place in the mag , but hey the young ones realy like the "z"s,at meets and shows so hey feature your cars guyz   more recognition for the club /z32,,,more discounts

I used to read Fast Car back in 1987/88 ish. Back when I was 18 and drove an Opel Manta and Astra GTE.

Back then it was actually good and the cars were actually put throught their paces on the track at Bruntingthorpe. As a petrol head, all I was interested in was "how fast?" Now it has sadly gone the way of Lax Power, Trevs, Breadline etc.

These mags are now all full of adverts and crap-heaps which are severly overdone in the spoiler dept, with more power in their stereos than in the engine.

I looked through FC recently (didn't buy it, honest:D ) and following a letter from someone slagging off a be-spoilered Saxo which cost the owner £30K in mods - ie thet he could have bought a decent car for that...

The editors reply was ".......I would rather cruise around in that Saxo than a standard Evo 7........."

Just about sums it up doesn't it?:D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I'm 22 and am probably a bit of a bore for my age, @ 19 I couldnt wait for my MGOC mag to come through to see the next stage of what ever resoration project they were undertaking ;) Maxpower isn't my scene and I wouldn't even be interested in going to such a meet.

Do you really think they'd enjoy the typical zed meet? we all meet up, park up and chew the fat for about 8 hours, a lot of gossip and bitching ;) and technical chat. Not once have i seen donuts or numerous sets of wonkey boobs being flashed about ;) on the issues I have read ive never seen any top totty, usually just the local troleps you see rolling around the street @ 15 years old pissed out of their heads on a friday night in southend lol.

I bought one edition of Max power, it had a red zed in it :D

O yeah, and who hired the photographer for mazpower? his exposure time is set to high and he's takes photos like he's pissed lol. Probably following the wonkey boobs..... (or is it srrae forgetting to reset his camera after taking photos of his dial ;))

can we have a bit of respect please for a long standing member of the forum.

It's hard as a newbie, you judge people by their post count and not by their "Handle".

I remember when Nico came back recently and some Bob said Who the Fook is this guy or words to that effect LMAO !!!

cant be serious??????????

My view on this:

Everything in life has an evolutionary order, food chain or pecking order call it what you will.

The Max Power lads may be the bottom of that particular order, but they are also the broad base of the pyramid. Fom that broad base come some young guys who are interested more in the car than the birds (though not too much :)) and these (without waxing too lyrical) are the future of the forum, these are the guys who will in years to come rebuild the zeds that we are happily thrashing the nads off today. Great oaks from little acorns grow, and from spotty little oiks grow the car enthusiasts of the future.

I for one cut my teeth on capris and RS mexicos ( the boy racer cars of my youth) and a lot of the guys I knew then are not into cars, but ( and this is the important part) some of us are. Dont slag off guys who are starting out on a path, just because you are lucky enough to have gotten to where you want to be.

Rant over except a) The kids are alright (sic) and b) why pink or brown, why not pink and brown?

100% agreement:D

Max Power aint my scene but you do have to wonder when things like this happen -

?id=1062997&outx=600&oq=0

Get some:dance:

Please note - not only is this not Max Power Live, but i wouldnt be seen dead at Max Power Live!!!

However the Street Racing that takes place after the event is amazing!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not slagging off the ethos behind the Max Power scene. Like Jock and Big Roy mentioned they (we)all must start somewhere.

However the tuning industry now is far too money orientated (sadly as is everything today - god, how old does that make me sound?:D ) and the mags too manipulating with regard to modding fashions. It seems every modded Saxo etc has the same body kit, paint job and stereo.

My point was that if a young modder can waste £30K on "maxing" a Saxo just to be different, why didn't he buy something decent and rare in the first place for say £10K (eg Zed, Supra etc), spend a little on mods if necessary and he would still have enough cash left to insure it for a couple of years:D

I'm not complaining about (some of) the women though:p

Richard

Well well Matty boy - what a post for a novice!!! You've really started something here - hav'nt you?

Well as you know I read Max Power every month, not for the birds!

Yes I'm up for it - that's a feature in Max Power - but um here we like to call it a MEET/EVENT not a cruise, that's for "Never Saxo" boys!!!! lol.

Yours,

Geoff.

The bird on the left was at Trax this year, I'm sure.

Anyway, this has all got a bit serious. Max Power is OK for a bit of a laff. I don't buy it (either). But if they're inviting a bunch of 300 owners to do a feature then why not take it as a compliment? Sounds like a good excuse for a get-together. Also might be good for helping evolve a few Saxo boys into real car enthusiasts. I'm not sure the majority of ZX's have what MP readership expects tho - stupid big spoilers, banging sounds systems and neons all over the place... but at least SMW1 will be alright :D Sorry Stu - couldn't resist.

I'd happily have a few pics of my car in their rag, with a couple of slappers sitting on the bonnet (holding it down to make it look like there's an engine in there!). Also might be interesting to find a couple of greasy-haired oiks to try lighting my exhausts.

Come on, could be good. Didn't realise how snobby you lot can be sometimes. Next you'll be saying you wouldn't want your cars featured on Men and Motors? Scantilly clad girls are great.

Well said Simon ...

I've been following this thread for a while now and I have to say that I'm surprised at the reaction in a lot of cases.

When I was a member of the Z-club back in the early 90's we had to put up with a huge amount of anti-Jap car snobbery; it's taken years to reverse this (in the main, at least Mr Clarkson, grrrr;)). It's a little galling to see us reacting with the same kind of instant snobbery that we've had to do so much to eradicate from the motoring press etc :(.

IMO any publicity for the Z32 is welcome; and hey if it's a glossy magazine, full of scantily clad women, then why not? - If Max Power's got a feature with Zs from here in, then I certainly wouldn't hesitate to buy it, just like I would have bought the issue that featured Mac's car, if I'd belonged to the forum then. :) Who cares if the other 'n' hundred pages are tripe.

I've never bought Max Power, but regardless of the content, I don't think that's the point - I'd definitely be willing to take my car along to the photo-shoot, as I would for *any* mass media publication that wants to feature our cars.

Why not add a bit of class to what sounds like a pretty class-less publication on the whole ...

I also felt a bit bad about the reaction that the guy who posted this in the first place got - I bet he didn't expect to be lambasted with a load of negative feedback; I think anyone who can help forward the profile of the club and our cars deserves at least a fair hearing.

Just my 2p worth :)

CheerZ,

JB.

Quite right - putting a bunch of Zs into Max Power can only improve it! And the more interest there is in buying our cars, the better price we'll get.

And I'm over 45 now so don't get much of a chance to see young ladies with bits hanging out :D
