I had this as well after grounding the centre section on a speed hump. Turned out it was just a bit of loose heat shield above the cat. Check this first - it might save you a few ยฃยฃยฃs :D

No, Steve, Apexi is generally reckoned to be the finest induction kit - I believe there's been a recent thread decrying the ability of HKS filters ... which is great since I've got one

ย

Anybody else with an Apexi care to comment?

ย

CheerZ,

JB. :D

The Apexi came out best in a test of four best known makes.

ย

The site address is on this board somewhere.

I have an A'PEXi and I think it is great. The K&N doesnt fit in a UK Z as it is for the US Z and there is no oil cooler in the way.

ย

The A'PEXi kit come with 2 bars which are used to keep the filter from rattling about. Something which I have not seen in any other filter.

Here is a pic of it installed.

ย

Another factor for getting one of these, other I have seen requre you to cut away at the splash gaurd to install it, leaving it a more exposed to rain and kicked up surface water.

ย

The A'PEXi didnt need any of that it fits very well.

ย

It also has the vortex funnel thing which stops an air vortex going past the MAS which has been known to causes the engine to stall at high speeds.

Yep, wholeheartedly agree with all the good things said about the A'PEXi above ... and available from me at DTA-Motorsport.co.uk for ยฃ120 including free recorded delivery w/in the UK! Check it out in the Traders Forum.

ย

General note: A'PEXi has stopped supplying the PowerFlow induction kits with fixing bars as shown in the pic above. No reason given. I have had mine installed in my Zed without the two bars for over two years now and not once has it rattled or come loose.

Regards,

What's involved in installing one of these APEXi babies.

The hidden bolts are a pain especially the two attaching

the splash guard.

Try 10mm on 1/2" drive ratchet - one of them bust my 5/16" hex driver.

You might have dig away the plastic of the std filter box, soft stuff

and there's no value in old boxes.

Most people end up cutting out the old air box as it is easier.

I have the JWT filter on my car from Courtesy, which AFAIK is the same as the K&N.

I dont think it is as when I bought mine the filter stuck up higher than the nose panel. I was told to go to the K&N centre in Warrington to get it fitted which I did and they said it wont fit and it was the correct one.

ย

After a few phone calls to K&N in the US, Warrington was told it wont fit the UK spec Z. Ever since then I have noticed when you look in a K&N catalogue it says "300ZX (Z32) US Only."

I have a Blitz Suss was easy to install - goes straight in.
