Officially its

5.2 0-60

13.8 1/4 mile @ 101mph.

2+2 Auto 7.5/14.6

7.5? WTF?

Shall we start a nationwide campaign to sort out the N/A v TT 0-60 times? ;)

Hey Pete, if the figures above are right, yours is running slower than stock too!

:D

Nissan UK did quote those figures for the UK spec (lower powered..263bhp) 2+2 auto not the higher power lighter 2 seater US car.The manual car(278bhp) was quoted at 5.9secs.

Although the Autocar road test achieved better figures for the manual car, subsequent road tests had it struggling against the similarly powered Porsche 928 and Turbo 944S.:D :D

I'm sure someone's asked this before - but what exactly is your motivation for posting on this site?

As a former member of PCGB I found them to be an impenetrable, arrogant bunch of :xxx:'s .. hmm, perhaps I've answered my own question.

As you were.

Were they faster than new Carrera 2s on the road then ?

If they aint then they won't fare any better than that did :nono: :D

True but you have to have a stubby little c*ck to drive a Porsche....as opposed to a mighty schwanz for a Z.

"I'm a fraud. A poor, lazy, sexy fraud."

Stuggling against the 928 and turbo 944s??

B****cks!!!!!

When Nissan launched the Zed they took it to Nurburgring for testing on the old test track. They actually lapped faster that Porche's own testers could manage in a 928GT

Tests for these cars against each other have shown (0-60 / top speed) to be:

Zed 5.6 and 155 (limited)

944s Turbo 5.7 and 154

928GT 5.6 and 169 (although old S4 - pre catalysed version could do 0-60 in 5.4)

I was looking to buy a 928 and drove a few good examples. I returned from one test to find the dealer had just taken deliver of a Zed. I drove the Zed straight after the 928 and guess which one I found the fastest, better handling and better looking??

The one I purchased, of course and it wasn't the 928

:D :D :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Not finished yet.......:D

See b19rks reply in "confused please help" thread

Oh and another thing, Pork928, USA twin turbos (2+2 & swb) have 300 bhp manual and 280bhp auto, as do the Jap spec.

All European models have 282bhp.

US spec cars would be slower on account of lower octane fuel - their regular is only 91ron (plus Americans are all fat b*****ds so would weigh the car down:D :D )

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

So my j-spec '93 manual has 300bhp as standard - are you sure?

I doubt the Euro Z has the least power considering the fuel is quite a bit better than the US and there are no power laws like in Japan.

US fuel is rated differently to european/japanese fuel:p Their TTs are swb 2 seaters and therefore lighter and slightly faster than UK spec cars.

UK spec cars were rated as 263/278bhp using 95 octane GB fuel....Nissan should have called the car the 263ZX!:D

Arse!

Bring it on Pork

I`m not into the whole Pork Vs Zed thing.....different cars for a different purpose IMHO but this lame Zed tosh you keep spouting really winds me up.

About 300 yards from my offices used to reside a 2001 Carrera 2.

About 3 weeks back, the owner of this fine automobile thought he would have a stab at my Zed while I was innocently driving home. Short to say that at the end, the guy pretended to turn down a road (I know he don't live down) because his porka couldn't take my "tired" old Nissan.

That man now has a 1998 import coming from Japan in 4 months. Nuff said. He made a bucket of money getting shot and will still be riding in the cockpit of the finest rwd supercar ever released to the public.

The 240Z was called so becuase it had a 2.4 litre engine.

The 260Z was called so because it had a 2.6 litre engine.

The 280ZX was called so because it had a 2.8 litre engine.

The 300ZX (Z31) was called so because it had a 3 litre engine.

The 300ZX (Z32) was called so because it had a 3 litre engine.

The 350Z is called so because it has a 3.5 litre engine.

So I dont see the logic in your argument. If you are going make fun of the origin of the car's name, have the decency to find a little bit about why it is called what it is first.

It was a joke......Just like calling a car a Gloria, or a Fairlady!:D

Much was implied in Nissan's original advertising that the 300ZX was a 300HP! car....(in certain markets only)!:D

It was also called the "Japanese Porsche 928" by some journalists....hence my comparison!:p

Hence the Porsche 928 having 928bhp of course.

Lets be honest here....no porka owner has the guts to take on a Zed on the road...the cars are too similar in their ethos and it would take a damn well modded porka to take out a Zed. Respect in all camps...apart from the hairdresser sort who seriously thought her boxter was a match for my 13 year old heap. Yeah right! Best of all was a hazy "baby on board" sign in her rear window that I saw while turning into my lane. Baby on board? The bitch was trying to keep up with me at over 100mph! Baby on board? Takes the pisss

Fair thee well...

The 928 is indeed a great car, it wants to be for a new cost of£60-70k.

It must have upset porsche when fast jap coupes (Zed, Supra) can do the same things as the 928 for half the new cost.:D

I that was the whole point of the comparison, as the performance etc of those cars is sooo close.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Although the 300ZX can undoubtably go fast , it was designed mainly for the US 55/65mph market and its own Japanese speed restricted domestic market. The 928 was built for both US and European markets where in Germany, constant high speeds can be attained.

Once a 300ZX is stretched on a daily basis, unless its been upgraded, its going to break down fairly soon!:D

What utter tosh!

Having been the unfortunate owner of two of these German "autobahn eaters", they were both far more un-reliable than any of the 3 Z's that I've had. (They were both about the same age/mileage as my Z's too)

To suggest that the Z was designed to travel at 60/65 with occassioanal bursts of speed is pure bunkum, they were engineered to perform reliably at any point within their capability and with correct maintenance, they do! ... and furthermore, I think that most people would agree that if anything an upgraded Z would be *more* likely to break than a stock one.

Pork-man .. please remove head from ass before speaking .. :D

CheerZ,

JB.
