Sorry about repeating a commonly asked question.

My insurance renwal quote has come through this morning at £789 for a Jap import TT (H reg), I'm 29 and have full no claims.

Does this sound reasonable? It doesn't to me.

Where else should I be looking for Jap import insurers?

Many thanks,

Andy

Norton sounded good (see a few posts below ...), Tesco offer good quotes on imports now - I'm with them.

Pete

Just phoned Norton and they only do limited mileage. Is there anyone else appart from Tesco (my wife is with them and they seem really steep!)?

Cheers,

Andy

I got my quote from Elephant...£565. UK car though so may be a little more for import!!!

I was with Tesco for my old car but the 300 was steep...around £900.

I'm with swinton.co.uk, 625 nicker on a uk tt, im 29!

Forget Elephant and Swinton (and maybe Tesco) for imports - they don't do them. (Age 29, 3 year NCB.)

Adrian Flux wouldn't insure me because I am

Privilege gave me three different prices from different call centre monkeys, so naturally I took the cheapest. :-) Still more than your quote, but my mods take me into the 15-20% uprating bracket.

Be careful with Priveledge. I've used them before on an older NA 300ZX (90), after a years insurance they told me I hadn't actually been covered!

Totally unorganised! Clueless.

Still haven't got my quote down :-(

Cheers,

Andy

Im guessing that £669 is pretty cheap then for a UK TT considering I only have 2 years NCB and I am also only 21??? That was from elephant.co.uk

Thought it seemed cheap at the time.

Mitch.

Im with Tesco's. Im 25, 4Yrs NCB - £860 for an 89' TT Jap.

But then i do live in the middle of nowhere!!!

Pete

I'm with AON, £510 with full NCB, 3 points SP30, 35, Full Comp, Protected, Garaged overnight, standard UK 300, Beirut postcode, the policy is specifically for imports, and is called Classic Roadster Policy, It jumped from £420 to £510 with my 3 points.

I can get the number if u wanna give them a shout.

HTH John Crisp

hi john300zx that number would be handy,

anybody know of an insurance if you wanted to use your zed only at the weekends??

560 fully comp, ncd protected from AON through Insurance Factory

35, garaged with cat1 alarm

adrian flux insured my jap spec tt and im only 26. about £1250 though fully comp, three years ncb.

Just insured mine (Jez's old car) with Adrian Flux, £850 fully comp, unlimited mileage, parked on drive, cat 1, all mods declared.

36, 7 years NCB

Robin

sorry to repeat a question again but does anyone know of a weekend only insurance that is availlable would be very appreceated if anyone could help me cheers guys

Direct line £860 fully comp on jap 2+2 TT, 26 yrs old 5 years ncb.

Was with tesco last year but direct line beat them by £100 this year!!

I'm with adrian flux,38 with 2 previous bumps but protocted n.c.d .driving an import n/a.cost £708 fully comp with protected, was the cheapest i could get at the time( but i think its a bit high- the 2 bumps didn't help)

  • 2 weeks later...

Please all be carefull with this one, lots of companies quoted for me, and only insistance that they double check with senior staff gave light to the fact they wouldn't touch my import!! In a lot of cases, if you take the moron on the helplines word for it, you'll end up with cover for a UK Spec and come claim time, God help you!!!

I used a company called A Plan who advertise in Japanese Performance magazine, sorry I can't recall the number, £640ish fully comp, I'm 35 full no claims, partner is 26 full no claims(named driver) 3 points for me and a crash in late 2001 taken into account (£3200 costs)

They wouldn't insure me at all until I am 30... and I'm 29 now, 3 year NCB.

It's just bloody well random if you ask me. Grrrr.

I've just renewed with Carole Nash (http://www.carolenash.co.uk) on a classic policy - £350 all in. Limited to 4000 miles (I only drive it at weekends :D ), 34 years old with full NCB and 3 points from an SP30 in 2000. Only £150 excess and agreed value of £8000!

Cheerz

Steve

PS. Norton weren't bad but they wanted a £550 excess!

'93 UK TT Manual

I'm with Lifesure, £378 fully comp on their classic car policy.

It has to be a 2nd car with limited miliage, off road with alarm system. excess £100.

Some might find this too restricting but is fine for me.

Stuart

I will probably renew with Bell Direct (I've a UK spec TT though) and it's £480 fully comp for an every day driver with £250 XS

I'm 33 with max NCB and clean licence, car has cat 1 security and is garaged.

Elephant was quite good at £502.........

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
