Post 5. How can I fix it.

Reply(Mr. stock). Shouldn't have ucked with it in the first place. Plugs, filters, oil and a bit of a wash now and then and you'll be O.K.

Really just a post to say I think the Zed is a really reliable sound car if you maintain it and fix it when it occasionaly goes wrong, it seems to be getting a reputation for unreliability but I think thats down to the modders.

I used to think that with the S13, and I gotta say it doesn't help especially if not done right. But the fact is both the S13 and Z32 are pretty fecking old now, upto 14 years, and some havne't been nursed with decent oil changes and proper servicing all their lives, and most (zed more so) will have had hard lives, i believe this is probably the biggest factor in the unreliability.

It's why they are cheap to buy now.

If you buy a less than perfect car chances are it's gonna break soon, and even sooner if you make power mods to it without doing the groundwork first.

A meticulously looked after car will respond far better.

Yep, still 3, can't sell one cos they're all stock daily daily drivers with the usual dick's and dings and imperfections as opposed to nice shiny modders that'll probably blow up next week. Seriously,

You drive 3 different zeds every day

Dave

I drive one, my wife drives one, and we go broom broom with whatever one is feeling lonely in the evening and at weekends.

So technically, there is one that is not a daily driver ;) as it only goes out at weekends.

Looks like I'm taking Mike's 'pedantic' crown :D

Dave ;)

oops - just re-read your post, I retract the above statement.

Bloody Stella :D:D:D

Yeah I stopped reading after the first one as well.

Depends! You could say that none of them are daily drivers. Whichever car is first or possibly second in the drive gets taken for use. So I've got 3 dailyish(invented new word) drivers. Anyway to get back to the original point, they're all very reliable.Plugs, filters, oil and a bit of a wash now and then and you'll be O.K.

Can't start won't start. Always run a car on a regular basis, leave it sitting and many problems may arise.

Give it back bitch!

Hey Mike,

my wheels/tyres are currently in "your neck of the woods" - Tyrecare, Dentons Green Lane

Cos , I kept reading about how unreliable they were here! Really I've usually had three cars, don't like to use garages if I can help it and with my limited skills if I've got three cars I can usually keep two on the road and fix/maintain the other one/ones. if you've got a problem with your car 9 times out of 10 if you've got decent technical ability you can fix it yourself given a bit of time and work. If you need your car ASAP always you need to punt it to a garage and pay! Nice to have a spare, but since I've found mine to be O.K. reliability wise looking for a 240Z to play with.

[Edited 'coz stuff you think may be funny to tell everyone when you're still pissed, somehow doesn't seem quite as funny when you more soberly realise it may get you into a lot of trouble!]

No Mike,

they were recommended to me by Johnny at Grasshopper.

I hope the funny story doesn't involve fitting my tyres :D

YEAH! but its cost you £30K to keep the car running right!:D :D

so are you saying that standard cars dont go wrong?!?!?!

how about a stock car thats driven hard all the time vs a modified car thats driven normally & the occasional hard drive???

or how about a modified car thats serviced regulary & well maintained vs a stock car thats not looked after well???

how about component failure thats just down to sods law?!?!?

im sorry, but theres just too many variables to say "modified cars are more reliable than stock ones"

all IMHFO of course :p

Was just a random post after a few beers too see what people thought, as usual the reaction goes over the top. Obviously standard cars go wrong as well and theres a lot of variables to consider. I think if you were a prospective buyer reading this forum you would maybe get the impression that the 300 is unreliable in my experience its very reliable.

of course a car which is running outside of its original parameters will wear out quicker. whats the old saying.. the bulb that burns twice as bright lasts half as long...

however,

when upgrading a car it is customary at certain levels that the weaker parts, for example conrods, are replaced with stronger units, if they are not then the engine will break, if they are then you have a modified engine that will last longer than a stock one. Any chain is only as strong as its weakest link, so by modifying the weakest links then the engine becomes stronger and able to cope with the power increase.

"Random post after a few beers"

Dont talk cr@p all your life, the only time you ever seem to post on here is to bring up some stock v modified argument, we have seen it all before several times from you, Is there a massive chip on your shoulder cos you have the pappest spec Z on here BWAHAHAHHA.

It takes all sorts to make up the world, I for one like fast cars, partying and loud music where you on the other hand may prefer aaran sweaters, sandals and Sunday school outings. Its all part of lifes rich tappestry

:D:D

Wrong 32k:p but still a dam site better than it was when it was first bought at 34K:p:p:p

LMFFFFFAO :D

Ok, those really great, reliable stock turbos, well, one seized. So, did I replace with a super duper reliable stock set again? Or did I replace them with a far more modern design capable of putting out far more power, through more of the rev range, and will probably outlast me - never mind the car! Erm, NO questions about it :p And thats just one example. Shocks, went for Konis cos they're erm FAR better than stock! Before you start rambling about how it will kill the bushes - yes, you're probably right, BUT hows about replacing them anyway after 10+ years of abuse? I'll be laughing when you pay >£1000 for a nice STOCK set from Nissan, when you can get a set of poly bushes for

Secondly, you say you don't know that much about the car? Well erm, here's a handy little tip, SHUT THE FUCK UP. In a few years time it should be a good laugh anyway - if anyone see's a stock zed, they'll know its you peter :D

My stock UK TT has run perfect for nearly 2 years that I've owned it and I've changed the oil every 3-4k miles. Guess I bought a well-looked after 1;)

I'm selling it soon, so keep an eye out 4 it.
