Scoops,there has never ever been a vote,we don't have any say who should or who should not.

Yes Dave, you're right - that was the one. In particular, there have been a lot of good suggestions about what unregistered / registered / paid members should be able to do. But it gets very complicated with loads of different options. Even when there is a very simple poll (like the one on the thread you found) is posted, the answers get very complex.

 

So we are trying to find ways of being able to do what the members want as expressed in various threads.

 

None of the existing mods have the time to administer a complex membership structure so when a few volunteers stepped forward we were (and are) very grateful for the offers. James & smw1 don't worry, your names have been taken too!

 

That is why Ajay is now a mod - it's not just some watery tart throwing swords around :D
